Hi Susan,I've heard good things about the camps and
schools run by the Salesians. If you were unable to
attend the Summer Resource Camp Fair held earlier this
month, go to www.SFKids.org, and they have a very
comprehensive list of summer camps in the city, for all
ages. They even have it categorized by "Free" and "Low
Cost" camps :-)Good luck!

We are really, really pleased with the Tiny Tots
service and have used them since the boys were about 6
weeks old. We use cloth diapers all day, but use
disposables at night and when we go out. In those early
months I was obsessed with getting them to sleep
through the night, and I think the disposables, and
their ability to feel less wet on the skin, helped with
this.Truthfully, I don't see much cost savings between
the cloth diapers and the sensitive disposables that we
buy- but my conscience about landfill waste feels
clearer. Congratulations to you and your husband!

Thanks for the input rinnigan, esp about the nighttime
disposables. We just finished interviewing night
doulas, and my husband asked them all what they thought
of the cloth diapers. I consistently got the
"I-told-ya-so" look from him after each one said they
would support us trying cloth diapers of course, but in
their experience the babies stayed drier and therefore
fussed less with disposables. I found this interesting
since all the posts here were quite positive about
cloth, and nobody seemed to think it kept their babies
sitting in wetness. SO...I'm thinking perhaps we'll
use the disposables at night if indeed they stay drier
and therefore asleep longer, then cloth during the day.
It's a fine compromise for me. Tiny Tots is set to
deliver our first batch in 2 weeks- getting excited!
For the babies, not really the diapers ;-)

With my first we used cloth at night (I very stubbornly
insisted). We had latching issues, so we're advised to
do "skin to skin". So our night feeding routine was
undress the baby, change the diaper, feed, sometimes
change the diaper again, dress, swaddle, cuddle to
sleep.... In retrospect this seems so dumb and caused a
lot of extra fussing (why are you changing me? I'm
HUNGRY) and precious minutes of sleep lost. With 2 on
the way, I think we'll just go with disposables and
fewer changes at night. Kind of depends on your
babies, though. If they don't wet much at night it
might not be an issue. I guess just prepare to be
flexible and figure out what works as you go along.
You'll have plenty of nights to experiment :)
