Hi all, I was thinking about having Lasik surgery this
summer. Pros? Cons? Any docs to recommend? I'm a bit
hesitant so any input will be much appreciated. Thanks,
Lara

Hi Lara,Hope you and the kids are great! It's been a
while. So, I had lasik surgery a few months after Tyler
was born in 2004 and, honestly, I still feel like it's
a miracle every day when I wake up and I can see
without glasses or contacts (still better than 20/20!)!
Being outside, playing sports and swimming is also
amazing -- no switching out between regular glasses,
prescriptive sunglasses, taking out contacts, etc... No
one needs to wait up for me; I can just go!I went to
Dr. Ella Faktorovich here in SF. I really liked the
fact that she didn't want to have anything to do with
performing surgery on me unless she knew it was going
to work perfectly. I appreciated that. Also, since I
play a lot of sports I liked seeing the photos of
professional athletes on her wall, thanking her for
fixing their eyes.Here's her link:
http://www.trustedlasiksurgeons.com/san_francisco_lasik_surgeon_ella_faktorovich_md.htmGood
luck with your decision! Let me know how it goes!Take
care,Laura_________________From: lara rajninger To: San

My husband and I used Dr. Faktorovich in 2007 and we
are still really happy with the results. My colleague
recommended her, but she said her eyes have regressed a
little now that it's been over ten years since she had
her work done. (I think that's more a comment on her
eyeballs than Dr. Factorovich.) Try not to catch a bus
to the first substantive measurement session (not the
sales meeting) -- they dilate your eyes so you can't
wear contacts, and you need to wear these huge wrap
around plastic sunglasses under your normal glasses.
Everyone on the bus I caught home was sure I was some
SF nutter!

We've used the original Arm's Reach Co-sleeper since
our twin girls were born. They are 12.5 weeks now and
it is still working well. As you noted, the weight
limit is an issue that we'll be coming up against soon,
but it has been great for us so far.An added bonus is
that it is fairly portable when assembled. So on the
evenings that our night doula comes, we can easily move
the co-sleeper out of our room. The twins have their
bed and we have some sleep!

This is great to read, as I had pretty much written off
a cosleeper b/c I didn't know you could use one with
twins. I have a friend who offered to loan me hers,
she had a singleton though and I don't know the brand
or anything. Is there a lot of variation in the
different brands? Are there different sizes?

Would highly recommend hiring someone's nanny for the
weekend so you and your husband can get away. Even if
all you do is stay in a hotel in town, the break will
be very welcome. We don't have family nearby but there
are many experienced nanny's that can take on your kids
for a weekend and give you a break. It's not a budget
option but if you haven't gotten away in 3-4 yrs, it
might be worth it. Good luck.

That's great news, James. Please don't give up on the
system and continue on to the next round,
http://www.sfusd.edu/en/assets/sfusd-staff/enroll/files/2012-13/AmendedForm2ndRound12-13-EN-CH-SP.pdfSpeaking
from experience last year, things do work themselves
out. I know and understand the stress of not having
everything right the first time. Last year was the
first year they implemented the new system, (and like
when Microsoft releases a new version of their
operating system), there were bugs. It's encouraging
to hear that James' situation was rectified so quickly,
so please go through the process and not give up.The
Parents for Public Schools site also has information on
how to proceed with the next steps, www.ppssf.org

Kids Protection Planning is from a legal perspective
and covers issues that parents know they need to think
about, but are not always sure where to get accurate
information. Cassandra will explain the simple steps
that parents need to take to protect their loved ones.
The Kids Protection Planning Seminar will include: * 9
Simple Steps they must take for absolute peace of mind
knowing that their children will be protected no matter
what. * Why they should name guardians for their
children now if they have not done so. * How to choose
the right guardian. * How to protect their loved ones'
inheritance from creditors, predators, lawsuits, and
divorce. * How to leave a valuable legacy for their
children that is much greater than just their financial
wealth. Biography: Cassandra Massey is an attorney
specializing in Estate Planning in Alameda. Cassandra
is also a mother. Event Details & RSVP
