Hello, Susanna 14 weeks in , first pregnancy :-) (got
super lucky with two!!!)Reading your comments I saw
that many of you did acupuncture during pregnancy.
Sorry I am totally naive here, can you give me more
info? how did it help? my first trimester has been
miserable I have been exhausted no energy at all, I was
super active and very skinny, now I am just lethargic I
have no energy except for eating (only healthy food
though). Could acupuncture help me with the energy
levels? all my blood test are fine I am not anemic and
everything is regular ...yet I am incapable of doing
anything and I need to exercise.thank you all for your
help ad support Susanna+2

3. Sports Basement Discount

sharono - 3/27/2012 4:17 pm
Here's a way for you to receive a 10% discount for
yourself, and support SF Schools.Roosevelt Middle
School, along with several other public and private
schools in San Francisco, are united as one team and
have been "competing" in Sports Basement Charity
Madness Tournament. SF Schools has advanced to the
Elite 8, i.e the final 8 teams, and are competing
against the SF Police and Fire Departments this
week. Here's how you can help. When you (or your
friends and family) shop at Sports Basement, mention
Roosevelt Middle School (or check to see if your school
is participating) at SB's registers and receive an
automatic 10% discount on the entire purchase AND 10%
of each sale will be donated back to whichever school
you named. The deadline for this week's tally is Sunday,
April 1 so get out there and save some money buying
your sporting gear and raising money for your school at
the same time!! The longer we're in the Tournament,
the more money we can earn from Sports Basement!!! We
want to beat the Police and Fire Departments this
week!If you want to read more information about the
Charity Madness Tournament, click on this link, Check
out
http://community.sportsbasement.com/archives/charity-madness/Sports
Basement has 4 locations all over the Bay Area,
including Walnut Creek and Sunnyvale so if you have
relatives down there, encourage them to shop and
mention Roosevelt Middle School when they check out so
they get a 10% discount and we get a 10% donation. In
addition to merchandise, ski rental (not lift tickets)
costs also count.Thank you for your support and happy
shopping!

5. Our first class was a doozy...how do you do classes with
twins?
--------------------------------------------------------
jmn3313 - 3/27/2012 3:37 pm
So I decided to brave it and take my 17 month-old boys
to an art class at Peekadoodle. Ugh! I must have looked
like a chicken with its head cut off. The boys didn't
want to do the art or sit in the chairs, they both
basically took off in different directions and wandered
about the room and I was going crazy! All the moms of
singletons had their kids sitting in the chairs doing
the art project and of course here I am running around
like a mad woman. There were people there to help but
one guy turned shy and only wanted me, the other guy
was mesmerized by the shiny sink and wanted nothing to
do with the activities. How do you do it on your own? Or
do most people with twins take a helper or wait until
they're older? I am sooo dreading next Tuesday. :)

We always took classes with one adult per child, even
something like my gym. For art we did that at home with
finger paints etc. l feel for you!!! If you could bring
another perspn to help, makes all the
difference.---------------On Tue, Mar 27, 2012 3:39 PM

Oh did you bring back memories for me! We actually
didn't put our boys into anything 'organized' like a
class for some time unless there was a bit of a
free-for-all aspect to it. You're brave for trying and
your children are lucky to have you! They may be just
too young for a class or maybe it was just so exciting
that they had to explore. Our boys' personalities were
such that they were just (and still are) pretty wild
and crazy and just needed no boundaries. Perhaps if it
doesn't work out next week you could ask to swap it for
some Peekadoodle playtime in the big room until they
get a bit older? You don't want to dread it, they're
just having fun and you should be able to (kind of)
too. ;)

8. PT Infant Nanny Needed 30 hours/week
--------------------------------------------------------
kthorsf - 3/27/2012 12:32 pm
We are seeking a loving and energetic caregiver for our
sweet boy/girl twins who will be 4+ months in April.
The babies love to be talked to and played with, so the
perfect person would be playful and outgoing—classes
in child development a plus! Great references,
vaccinations, and a clean background check are
essential. Schedule: Approximately 30 hours/week. We
prefer Mon-Thurs, but could be flexible about days and
hours for the right person. Start date May 1 or
sooner.Location: We are walking distance from
Divisadero, the Panhandle, and USF.We appreciate any
referrals!

We flew with our kids cross-country at that age. I
don't think you need two seats but I do think you want
one. That way you have somewhere to put one child while
one of you makes bottles or preps food, goes to the
bathroom, changes the other one's diaper etc. if you
end up with two sleepin babies and nowhere to put one
of them it's going to seriously hamper your ability to
do anything.

I've heard that there is only 1 extra oxygen mask per
row, so the airline might not let you fly with 2 lap
infants in 1 row. Probably check with the airline. We
flew with my very active (singleton) son to Hawaii when
he was 9 months, but we had 3 people to juggle him
between, and the plane wasn't full so we used an empty
seat part of the time. I agree that at least 1 extra
seat will increase your sanity. Plus it gives you an
extra checked bag allowance. The next time we fly it
will be with 3 kids and I've already decided everyone
is getting their own seat... It will probably be some
time before we get up the nerve though :P

Congrats! How exciting and good to hear that you are
feeling so well! I second the comment above. One
thing to just remember is that you can do everything in
your power to take good care of yourself and the babies
and they still might come early. And if that does
happen, there are many premies in this group that
thrived in the care of the Nicu nurses and doctors.I
went to 38 weeks and one day. I drank an enormous
amount of water, ate healthy frequent meals, stopped
working around 33 weeks and went to acupuncture
throughout my pregnancy. I really credit slowing down
to my long pregnancy. Leaving work was hard as I loved
my job and felt guilty leaving - but I knew when it was
time. I took short walks everyday, propped my feet and
just went easy on myself. Taking myself away from
stress, long days standing on my feet and a long
commute home was my best decision. In the end, I
really do believe that it's out of our control, in many
respects. You just do your best to take great care of
yourself - but the babies will come when its time for
them or when your body can't handle it anymore. Think
positively and visualize those big, healthy full-term
babies. Best wishes.

I'm 5'1" and just hit 35 weeks -yay! Agree with what's
already been said - eat well, drink lots of water, get
plenty of rest. Listen to your body. Also keep in mind
that some part of it is just out of your control, so
just do the best you can. We are fortunate to have
access to amazing doctors and facilities in SF for
anything that might come up.Congratulations!

Hi ThereI too am 5 feet, and weighed 98lb before my
pregnancy. I managed to carry to 38 weeks and had to
be induced.I also went to acupuncture during the first
6 months or so of my pregnancy. I drank a ton of
water, and did put my legs up often and when I could. I
took prenatal yoga until about 7 months. I made sure to
eat a lot of protein in my diet as well.In my third
trimester I did feel like a lazy sloth, I didn't do
much. But it is hard work being pregnant!! I think I
heard that you are doing the work, just sitting and
resting on your couch - the same as a 5 mile hike or
something crazy like that. I also agree to stay
positive!! People will tell you throughout your
pregnancy that you will deliver early, just because you
are having twins- and that ain't necessarily so!!!Think
FULL TERM!Good luck!

Congrats! The Barbara Luke book When You're Expecting
Twins, Triplets, or Quads: Proven Guidelines for a
Healthy Multiple Pregnancy was my nutritional bible
during my twin pregnancy. I really appreciated the
tables that told me how much I should weigh at each
stage based on my BMI. The main criticism I've heard is
that she expects you to eat too
much.http://www.amazon.com/Youre-Expecting-Twins-Triplets-Quads/dp/0061803073/

Congratulations! I carried my twins until 38 weeks 2
days and had a scheduled c-section (due to breech
positions.) The above is all great advice. I also went
to acupuncture throughout pregnancy and did my best to
keep moving/ walking/ yoga until my final week. My
additional advice is to gain weight. Of course don't
overeat all the time or eat unhealthy foods, but don't
be afraid to gain the weight. It's really important
that your small frame develops along with the babies to
be able to carry them! I lost all my weight in a
reasonable amount of time afterward, so it can be done.
Good luck!

Seconding Elizabeth's recommendation on the Barbara
Luke book, above. I did not make it anywhere near her
total calorie or protein recommendations, but boy did I
try! She also have me license to think about a twin
pregnancy much differently than a singleton, which I
think is essential...
