nataliasha2004 - 3/28/2012 2:36 pm
I'm wondering if anyone still has one of these around I
could use, before Saturday's big sale... I don't need
tags, just gun & the little plastic
attacher-doohickeys. I'm prepping everything now, so
I wouldn't need it long -- I'll just stick the tags on,
label them later -- so should be able to return gun w/
a ~24 hour turnaround. Would be especially awesome if
you were anywhere near Bernal/Potrero/Mission, but I'm
happy to pick one up anywhere, really. THANKS!!

Hi, Susanna!! Congratulations! Everyone is
different, but I'm pretty sure acupuncture could help
you - and I can't imagine how it could hurt. I think
it's the main thing that kept me comfortable during my
pregnancy (well - that and the stuff that goes w/ it:
Massage/acupressure, herbs, cupping, moxabustion, a
specific diet based on my individual system and
pregnancy... (& did I mention the massage? Ahhh... I
miss those days!)Keep in mind though - your body is
doing something pretty significant and profound -- not
just one, but two babies! So it's pretty common to be
tired. Your heart is pushing around more than twice
the normal amount of blood through your body, and your
poor internal organs are all having to accommodate one
of them turning into a watermelon! It was my
experience, and this apparently was common, that the
first and last trimesters are the most tiring, cause
there's the most going on. I know acupuncture helped
me with my overall energy tho - but when you ultimately
hit that wall, you have to rest. The tiredness was
regular/frequent, but by no means constant. I remember
spells of getting a TON of stuff done, and actually
sometimes having what seemed like extra energy. If you
decide to go to one, know that you should probably go
for at least 3 or 4 visits before deciding whether or
not to continue... sometimes it can take a while to
get yourself all tuned and balanced. Also, be sure
that whoever you see has experience w/ pregnant women,
especially multiples (not everyone does.) I can't
recommend my doc highly enough - tho she doesn't take
insurance, and her style can come across as abrupt:
Dr. Angela Wu, Wu's Healing Center on Clement near
11th. I think she's incredibly gifted, and REALLY
knows her stuff. She's old school, and was apparently
the first acupuncturist anywhere to practice on
pregnant women, which used to be taboo, traditionally.
I got to really like, enjoy and respect her, and credit
a great pregnancy to her and her staff.
http://www.wushealingcenter.com/Good luck with whatever
you wind up doing! Give it a try, I say! : )

Just a note to say: Bravo! I took my 16 month olds to
Peekadoodle for the first time last week and just
stayed in the general play area. That would be doable
for one adult. I have not signed up for any classes at
Peekadoodle. You have probably done this, but just in
case -- I have found that music classes are great for a
1:2 ratio. We love the Blue Bears class at Calvary on
Mondays. They also have many classes in Fort Mason.

I did a music class at Natural Resources for 5 weeks
with my boys at about this age. It was awful, tho my
husband came once and that was ok. I skipped the last
class because I couldn't deal with it. My nanny now
takes them at 26 months to a small art class near our
house, and they are doing great and are much more
capable of focusing. That said, the class is very
"loose" and they are moving around the whole time. We
also go to a soccer thing on Sundays with organized
group activities like obstacle courses, singing in a
circle, etc, which is a total wash. About the only time
they focus is for the stickers at the end. We do our
own thing most of the time, which is fine. Moral of the
story, don't do anything that makes you feel like a bad
parent. If you're not having fun, skip it and try again
later!

If you haven't completely given up - consider trying
Precita Eyes Mural Arts Center. (It's across the
street from Precita Park/Playground, in case you need a
place for them to burn off steam before or after! And
there are 2 kid-friendly cafes in walking distance.)
Their room is not huge, and attendance is not usually
that high, so sometimes one of the 2 staff members
there can help a bit. They're pretty casual (in my
experience) about letting kids move freely from one
activity area to the next - it's all just a few steps
apart. It's REALLY not a class, per se, just several
stations set up for different types of art play -- I
figure the money spent is so that they can make a mess
in someone else's place. Here's a link:
http://www.precitaeyes.org/education.html See the
"Toddler/Preschool Art classes" midway down the page...
and ask them about a twins discount (there are a bunch
of us local twins moms badgering them about that, and
it's sometimes worked in the past... Instead of
$15/class/kid, I think I got in both for $25 or maybe
even $20?? It's been a while. The toddler "class"
is currently on Wednesdays at 10:30 and lasts an hour,
or as long as you and your kids do!Also, at least with
ours - we've found that it's helpful to talk with them
ahead of time about what they'll be doing, so they'll
have some sense of what to expect - and then also give
them a chance to get a little energy out before hand,
so they can theoretically focus on the activity a
little better. BUT -- each kid/twin set IS different,
and some things that don't work at one age turn out to
the their favorite in another month or two. Perhaps
Peekadoodle can give you a credit, to return in a
couple of months, if you explain your concerns? Good
luck ~ hang in there! It DOES get easier!

We started music together when kids were around 15
months - I would come with a helper and it was
manageable, though often both were fighting to sit on
my knees and ignored the helper. The worst was when we
had to move around the room and dance or do some other
mOvement - while the singletons were happily dancing,
my kids were screaming glued to my hands, like I am
trying to abandon them by moving a few steps around the
room. It's much better now that we go on Saturdays with
daddy. But they are 2.5 now and everything is easier :)
Except for now both need to be taken potty in the
middle of the class, so I am glad I am not alone!

We have been taking classes at peekadoodle since my
twins were about 1. I will say that this is the best
place to take classes w twins. Most classes have a
helper as well as the teacher and they have been
amazing with my two. The art class is a little hard....
I just tried to focus on one then the other. Also ask
the teachers to help you..... The staff is very
accommodating there. Good luck... It does get easier!!

If you can swing it, getting one seat would be a nice
thing. Then, you can have the whole row to yourselves.
A car seat is a nice place for one child to rest or sit
and be comfortable. We flew to the east coast at around
that age and took our double stroller with 2 cars seats
hanging off of the back (attached with mommy hooks)
through security. Then gate-checked the stroller and
one car seat. We brought the other seat on the plane
and then reversed the process on the way out. Then,
with one car seat on the plane, one baby is secure and
the other is being held/swapped between parents. We
would switch them periodically and kind of stagger
attempted napping, just to keep things interesting.
Good luck!
