We have a reel mower similar to
this:http://www.homedepot.com/Outdoors-Outdoor-Power-Equipment-Walk-Behind-Mowers-Reel-Mowers/h_d1/N-5yc1vZbx9t/R-100329907/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051No
motor to worry about, and it's lightweight and really
easy to use. It doesn't collect the clippings, but it's
not hard to rake them into a pile and pick them up. We
have a patch about 18'x18' and this is what we have
used for years.

5. EIF bright spot in the heart of one of my babies
--------------------------------------------------------
rosisu - 5/5/2012 9:17 am
I am really broken in pieces and I would like to hear
if any of your had a similar experience. Yesterday we
went for the long ultrasound at 19 weeks and 6 days.
the babies are growing well and structurally all is
perfect...but when the doctor entered with the
consultant I froze and started to shake....he said the
babies looks great but...there is a bright little spot
in the heart of our baby girl. it is not a malformation
and does not lead to any lethal consequences...these
spots comes and goes, if I had done the ultrasound last
week maybe we would have missed it...it is found
commonly in 3-5% of normal babies and 20% of babies
with Down Syndrome....because of this they had to tell
me that my baby girl has a small possibility to carry
DS....1:250 translated in % means that she has 99.6 %
possibility of being born perfectly normal and 0.4% of
having DS....we did all the other part of the genetic
testing since I am 36 and everything was fine and
negative. I was terrified and could not stop to cry...I
wanted to do an amnio right the way, my husband opted
me out of it we should think about. he was right....now
the idea of endangering the life of both with an amnio
is killing me...I would never forgive my self if
something happen for an amnio and if I endanger both my
beautiful babies for a 0.4% possibility...but at the
same time can I put this on my shoulder forget about
for the rest of the pregnancy? I know nobody can take
that decision for us and everybody will have different
opinions..I am just lost dishearten ...did any of you
had to do amnio? what was your experience? if you do
not want to answer the post please email me
rosis@ptrehab.ucsf.edu and word of support is
appreciate on this moment...

Hi Rosis,One of our twin boys also had an EIF show up
around his 19 week ultrasound (maybe a bit earlier). It
stayed there throughout my pregnancy (was still visible
at the last ultrasound). We referred to it as his
"marker" so that the ultrasound techs could always tell
the boys apart :). Boys are now 3.5 weeks and seem
perfect thus far. To the extent possible, I would not
worry about it. Because we had monochorionic twins
they also did an echocardiogram (basically an
ultrasound on the heart) and everything looked perfect
there as well. As one doctor said to me "we debate
even telling parents about these bright spots as we see
them so often, and they are usually nothing."We also
decided not to do any further testing (because of the
relatively high risk of the amnio compared to the risk
of something being wrong). We concluded we would not
take any action even if they kids did have Downs' or
some other "defect" so further testing didn't seem
worth it to us.I know it's nerve wracking, but my
understanding is that EIFs are extremely common and
that the vast majority of babies with them are
perfectly normal.Sarah

As someone who was pregnant twice with twins and the
first time had a genetic problem with one of the twins,
I want to speak up for the pros of invasive testing.
Both times I did CVS which if Dr. Goldberg performs it
has a 1/1600 risk. I am sure the amnio risks are even
lower which make it even safer than the risks you are
already facing. Also already having faced this problem,
I want to say that it is better to know and to prepare
than to be surprised (I would say this even holds
doubly true when having twins.) Feel free to tentmail
me if you want to ask me more questions.

Also was diagnosed with one twin having a 'bright spot'
on her heart. Opted not to do an amnio. Today both
twins are perfectly healthy and 4 years old! We
agonized over decision to do the amnio as well. In
retrospect I think I would/ should have done amnio just
so I would have an answer whatever it was. As someone
mentioned above the risk is low- and the medical staff
here in SF is remarkable. PS- I did have an amnio with
my second pregnancy (son) and once amnio was over was
amazed at how much unnecessary anxiety I had created in
my head for such a quick and easy procedure- in case
that helps. Let me know if you want any more info. Go
with the decision that you are most comfortable with-
trust your gut or tummy :)

That might be better timing for Bhavna! But if she
wants a few months off between school start and Dec I'd
be happy to meet with her.
