Please also consider volunteering to help with planning
the monthly speaker meetings. There is no scheduled
meeting in June and 4 or 5 events need to be planned
for the fall. If interested in taking over, have ideas
for speakers or topics let me know. Thanks,James

2. What type of nanny worked for you (day/night/both)?

We are trying to plan what kind of help we will need
for our twins when they arrive this fall. We will be at
my mom's house for the first month or two so we will
have some help, but she is getting older and although
she wants to do a lot - I know she will get really
tired. With that said, I'd like to get some
recommendations on what has worked for people in a
similar situation. Please let me know what you recommend
- night nanny for the first month, few months, daytime
nanny after that? Or daytime nanny all the way? I would
like to do things on my own as well if I can after
recovery...while I'm home until I go back to work in
3-4 months of their arrival. All thoughts are
welcome!Thank you in advance!

Hi All,My 16 mo girls have gotten to be so crazy messy
and demanding when eatingin their high chairs... every
time I feed them I just dread it because theystart
throwing food on the floor, making a big mess, refusing
to be spoonfed, yelling for me to give them specific
items off the table, gettingtheir bibs off, trying to
squirm out of their high chairs, ect. I know thisis a
phase, and of curse it make sense they want to spoon
feed themselvesand have control over the whole feeding
process but I don't recall thingsbeing so out of
control with my son. Any suggestions on how to
startcalming things down a bit? One bite at a time?
:)Thanks,-Aleks

Have you tried giving them finger food? Maybe just give
up on the spoon feeding for a while so it's not such a
battle. Another thing to try is to set a rule that
throwing food on the floor immediately ends the meal.
Try not to get angry or show much reaction (so they
don't try to work to get a reaction), just calmly put
everything away and take them out of their chairs. I
haven't been through this phase with twins yet, so
maybe it's worse than with a singleton... Yikes. You
can also invest in a couple of splat mats to contain
the mess.

Hi,We love our pediatrician: Bay Area Pediatrics:
http://www.pamf.org/mpd/pediatrics/The practice has
several offices (Seton; Daly City; Burlingame; San
Carlos; San Mateo). Flex evening and weekend hours (for
both regular and drop-in appts) - Check the office near
you for specifics. Impressed with both the quality and
warmth of the docs (our kids are 5, so we've seen a lot
of the staff @ Seton/Daly City/San Mateo) --
informative, conversant, and non-alarmist. Experienced
with multiples. Organized, timely, and responsive
front-office staff. Centralized billing for all
offices. Easy to get to, free and plentiful parking @
most offices. Our dentist, Shore View Dental
(http://www.shoreviewdental.net/) is terrific - they're
in Pacifica, 1st exit (Manor) @ north end of town.
Husband/wife team, Dr. Sepi Vafi is the peds dentist,
and she's simply wonderful. They have two kids of their
own, so understand the kid thing, and the office staff
is organized, on time, and on the ball.Congrats on your
move! Getting a lay of the land, getting settled, and
finding new providers can be a job in itself!Best,-
Judy (Ella & Nathan - 5.5 years old)

Michelle,I hope all is well. Sorry I did not have time
to provide you more info last night. We had just come
home from a weekend away. I suspect you don't want to
move twice, but in case you are open to it, here are
the details on my place.1) I was going to list at
$5,200 per month or $2,000 per week to deter shorter
term rentals while we are away for the summer. Last
summer I had a family rent for all of July and another
for all of August and it worked out perfectly for
everyone.2) If you wanted it for the 10 weeks we're
gone I would do $4,000 per month and prorated for June
21st to June 30th. 3) I am on a flat block, 62 Tiffany
Avenue, between 29th and Duncan and it cul-de-sacs and
is quiet and not trafficked. I walk the kids along
Valencia, sort of an extension of our block and through
Noe Valley without a stroller... no hill. I can walk
them to Dolores Park, Noe Rec center etc... quickly and
easily.4) There is a Safeway 100 yards down the block
for everyday shopping.5) I have 3 bedrooms, 2 baths on
two levels with an eat-in-kitchen and formal living and
dining room.6) Naturally, I have all the twin stuff for
toddlers you could want. They share a room with two
beds and there is a third trundle bed in their room
too.7) One car parking, laundry in house, large flat
grassed yard with fig tree and more. That's the
overview. Let me know if you want to see it or talk
further. CheersGedalia415-867-9876--- On Sun, 5/6/12,

We had a situation where one of my twins was put at a
1/13 chance for Down syndrome. I had never ever heard
of anyone getting a risk level that high. Although it
sounds awful, it was actually a 92% chance that
everything would be just fine. We ended up doing a CVS
and everything actually was fine but it was a terrible
few weeks with a lot of stress while we were waiting
for the results. I now have 2 very healthy girls. I
think that even in retrospect, I was glad I did the
test. It was very stressful during that time period but
it gave me such relief once it was over to know that
everything really was okay.

My son had a bright spot on his heart. I remember that
ultrasound so well. Things had been going so smoothly
and we were ecstatic to finally be pregnant and doing
so well...that ultrasounds sent me reeling. I could
tell that something was wrong by the way the technician
kept going back to capture something. She quietly left
and the doctor came and looked and told us that we
needed to speak with a genetic counselor. Speaking
with the genetic counselor was very overwhelming
because we had not had a chance to absorb what we were
being told. After talking with the genetic counselor
we went home and talked with our OB and he is the one
that really helped walk us through everything. If you
havent already, I would set up a phone call with your
OB. We opted not do an amnio because the risk of
miscarriage from the amnio was the same percentage as
my son having downs (in other words - very low). Our
doctor explained that at that point having a
miscarriage with our son would make carrying our
daughter to full-term very difficult. We decided we
didnt want to take that risk. In the end, I had to
just push it to the back of my mind. The calcium
deposit continued to show up in all of the ultrasounds.
I was anxious about it, but prepared for any outcome.
In the end, Henry was a healthy little boy and does not
have Downs. Feel free to email me if you want to
talk: lisamudd@gmail.com
