We have a similar situation, but with the boy being the
night owl and the girl sleeping very easily. I
basically wake him up from his nap after certain time,
whereas I'm not too bothered about how long she naps
for (since I know she'll fall asleep fine at night
anyway). At night I also put her to bed about 20 min
before him. He does not need as many hours of sleep
time as she does, so this solution works for us. Good

I have a very similar situation. we put my daughter to
bed down about 10-15 minutes after my son, and we give
her books/soft toys so that she can play in her crib
for 30-60 minutes after being put down (and before
falling to sleep). we also have one of those fisher
price fish tanks in her crib which she LOVES. its not
easy having twins with totally different sleeping
habits, but sometimes it comes in handy...

We have ours sleep in different rooms because they
could never sleep well together as babies. Our daughter
has very sensitive sleep and wakes the neighbors up
when she wakes up from any noise or bad dream. That
disturbed our son so much that he would whimper and sob
for hours perpetuating the cycle. In terms of time -
untill very recently our son needed more slept than our
girl, so we bathed them together and then he went to
sleep, while she had another hour of storytelling.
Lately they are both boycotting their naps and rolling
in their cribs for hours in the evening if they do get
a nap earlier. Not sure if it's evening out now, or
it's just a phase.

Max,Congratulations on the arrival of your twin boys!
You will find SFPOM to be a great resource for your
many questions about raising twins.The difference
between daycare and preschool is that daycare can start
when a child is an infant and preschool doesn't start
until a child is 2.5 or 3 years old, depending upon the
school. Daycare is a childcare option for working
parents much like having a nanny. Preschool tends to
be something that nearly all children attend these days
prior to entering kindergarten. Preschools have
various options like 1/2 days, only some days a week,
full days, etc., depending upon the school. Daycare
typically offers an option for full-time working
parents.My twins never went to daycare so I cannot
offer much insight there. But I will say that it does
sound like the pricing of daycare for 2 children is
similar to the price of a nanny, so with twins it is
worth looking into both options. I was at home for 2
years when my twins were born; then we had a nanny for
7 months when I went back to work. Then my twins
entered preschool and there is full-time care there
outside of the "classroom" hours so we no longer needed
a nanny.For daycare I do think you need to look into it
now if you are interested, and some daycare centers
take applications while you are pregnant. For
preschools, I found that they only took applications a
year ahead of when you wish to enroll, so you still
have plenty of time for that.My children attend Big
City Montessori School in San Francisco and we love it.

want to talk about it as you near that stage, I am
happy to do so. I recommend the school
