My girls are 6 months, and we have just separated them
into separate cribs a few days ago. They now have a lot
more space to move around, but seem to stay in a
corner... however they are now rolling over onto their
bellies. One of my girls rolls over in her sleep and
is uncomfortable or can't roll back. I go in and turn
her over without picking her up, and she again goes
back to her belly. My girls are usually good sleepers
-through the night. Should I let her figure it out? or
do I continue to roll her back. Last night she was
fussy trying to roll over for about 45 minutes (maybe
longer), I eventually gave in and went in to console
her. She nursed and then went back to sleep. I DON'T
want to make a habit out of this as she usually sleeps
through the night without a problem. Help! Not sure
what to do here...

Ask your pediatrician. If I remember correctly, our
ped said to stop swaddling them when they rolled over,
but to not roll them back.

toddlers? Ours are 19 months and sleep in cribs. I'd

We're serious campers/backpackers/snow campers and live
in Tahoe. We took our toddlers camping when they were
19-months. The hardest parts were: 1) Keeping an eye
on them while they ran around the site putting
everything in their mouths (e.g. trash from previous
campers!) I pulled a bottle cap out of one's mouth and
a "do not eat" packet from the other's mouth. There is
SO much to do to get set up and cooking that it's
really hard to keep a close eye on them unless you're
in a large group and have little responsibility. 2)
It's still light as day at bedtime and when we put them
in the pack & plays they cried for over an hour.
Miserable. We even let them stay up 1/2 hour later
than usual - didn't help. 3) They were FREEZING at
night. They woke up crying at 11pm, it had dropped to
about 55 degrees and they refused to keep their hats
on, their hands were frozen. So we pulled them into
our sleeping bags with us and that was even more
miserable. I hate to say it, but we packed the kids in
the car and left at midnight on the first night. My
husband went back to the site the next morning (we live
in Truckee, so our camping was only 10 miles away) and
picked up all of our gear. Afterward, everyone in the
camping group said they couldn't believe we even tried
it. This summer, the kids are 2 1/2 and we're going to
practice first in the backyard and see how it goes.
Some other things you don't think about: night lights,
sound machine (iPad has an app), tons of books for the
tent. All that said, they do have an amazing time
running, rolling and exploring in the dirt. I
recommend an RV at this age! Best of luck! Holly

Hi Gabrielle- I am from the UK and live in Noe Valley-
it is an excellent place for families and I echo the
earlier comment about living somewhere a bit flatter so
you can easily get about with the stroller. Our twins
are only 7 weeks old, so I can't offer much advice on
daycare etc, but happy to help with questions about
moving from the UK and living in this areaGood
luckCaroline
