We have a wonderful nanny that I met through a friend
that is starting next week. I just saw in another post
that there is a SFPOM "black list" of nannies based on
feedback of people in this forum.Does anyone know how
to check a nanny against the black list? And while I'm
here, does anyone have feedback on Jasmin Sipion
(married name, married last year), maiden name Jasmin
Cruz Tuazon?Thanks!

We went camping with the kids when they were about 6
months old. So I can't say that I know much about
camping with toddlers. However, I can attest to the
fact that it was COLD. We camped with them last July
up in the sierras. Knowing it would be chilly, we
actually brought all of their winter gear. They slept
in their snowsuits, mittens and had their J.J Cole
Bundle Me's ready to go if needed.....I know that
sounds crazy, but they were perfectly warm and cozy.
They were so tired after being in the fresh air all day
and getting them to sleep was pretty easy. We are
going again in July and they will be around your kids
age. (17 months right now). Planning to do the same
thing again - warm hats, mittens, etc.... We bought a
HUGE tent and left our cozy little one at home. I
think it was the REI Kingdom 6? It has two rooms and a
"garage" to keep your shoes. That enabled us to bring
their pack and plays and for us to bring a blow up
mattress for them to sleep with us if needed. They
ended up being fine and didnt need to sleep with us.
For our upcoming trip I picked up some great stuff at
the Patagonia outlet in Santa Cruz - long undies,
fleece pants, fleece booties, fleece coats. This will
be a little harder with toddlers, but we put down a
massive tarp for them to roll around on and play with
their toys. But here is what was the key for us last
time and I think will be a lifesaver for this coming
trip: we went with my sister-in-law and her fiance who
don't have kids. If you have any friends without kids,
that like kids....BRING THEM. Its incredibly helpful
to have an extra set of hands while you set up, cook,
etc....I say go for it. You don't know until you do
it. But, camping close does seem like a really good
idea so that if you need to bail, you can just come
back in the morning to pack up. Good luck. If you go
before July, I would love to hear any thoughts/lessons
learned!
