My kids LOVE applesauce - they scoop it up with their
fingers because spoons take too long - but I can NOT
get them to eat actual apples. How do you do it?

I'm trying to gather some suggestions as to places to
take my boys, who are 19 months. Most parks are out, as
I need enclosed spaces because they both take off in
different directions.Any indoor play spaces that you
like? Peekadoodle didn't work for us--it's made for
kids that are a little older. We unfortunately don't
have a yard (just a roof deck) and I need to get these
guys out more to socialize and also to run off their
steam in a new environment. Any twin-tried-and-true
suggestions? Thanks so much :)

This is not a play space per se, but I took my kids to
Stonestown and let them run around in the wing just
outside of Macys upstairs. They loved to hide and chase
behind the beams. I remember our son loved to stair at
the imitation aquarium at the nail salon there. They
also attended My Gym at 22 months and LOVED it until
they were about 3.5.If you are members of the Academy
of Science, they have a great toddler room to play. And
the Randall Museum has a toddler room as well.Little
Learners Zoo class at the SF ZOO is REALLY great. I
totally recommend it and Susanne Cooper is the BEST
teacher, really connects with the kids.Have
fun!Susan--- On Wed, 6/13/12, Joy wrote:From: Joy

5. Two Sporty Swedish Au Pairs Available now ($7.50/hr)
--------------------------------------------------------
debspr - 6/13/2012 12:58 pm
Hello,I am helping two Swedish au pairs look for new
host families. They are currently in the U.S. (one on
the East Coast and one in Marin). They are available
now and they are very worthy of a new host family.
They are both sporty and have a positive attitude -
just in time for the summer holidays. If you'd like to
see their photos (a picture is worth a 1000 words) - go
to
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/kid/3075861440.htmlTess
- I personally know Tess and like her personality and
attitude - and she is GREAT!. Her host mother says
that she is wonderful with her two children (4 and 5
years old) - and they love spending time with her.
Tess writes: "I love basketball and thats something I
would love to do with the kids, and go to the beach and
swim and play volleyball. almost everything you can do
I'm for it. (tennis, fotball, dancing) just playing and
having fun. I would love to teach the kids sports that
I know so that we can play togheter. I love to be most
outdoors but when we are indoor would I love to play
hide and seek or play cards or paint and we have to
bake!. I am funny and childish (in a good way) and i
can dance and sing. and I love to play teacher. and I'm
responsible". Her references say very positive things
about her. She is available now and her visa expires
next July. She has driven in the U.S. since
July.Jesper, also from Sweden, looked after four
children in Minnesota for the past 4 months. He would
like to come to sunny CA for the remainder of his year.
Jesper writes: "During the last 6 years there has
been many children involved in my life. In my high
school, I worked with kindergarden and preschoolers for
8 weeks each year. One summer, I also worked at a
summer camp for 6-8 year old kids. I have 3 younger
sister and an older brother. I helped my sister Elin
alot because I was home and my parents were working so
I help making dinner or drove her to friends or sport
sometimes.and now I have been an au pair for 4 kids in
4 months. I have been driving for four years,
including in MN."The cost of an au pair is $7.50 per
hour and includes medical insurance, flights, visa,
training and local support. Au pairs can work up to 45
hours per week and can help with driving and light
housekeeping, too.I've personally had 15 au pairs and
given my experience I can help you navigate the au pair
process and ensure that you get the right au pair for
your family. Let me know if you are interested in Tess
or Jesper (they are available now) or if I can help you
find any other nationality or special interest au pairs
(e.g. special needs, twins, LGBT) for your family. I

Despite being avid campers, we waited until the kids
were over 2 years old. I wanted to make sure we were
past any phases of night crying etc. I'm glad we
waited. They were still in cribs when we went camping
at 27 months. We got a big queen air mattress and slept
in it all together. (would recommend a king mattress to
more comfortably fit everyone). We put them in fleece
sleep sacks inside the flannel sheets with down
comforter and blankets and they stayed warm, but we
needed to keep hats on their heads and snuggle up - it
was July in Big Basin but it got down to below 40 that
first night! Napping is hard - they partied for almost
two hours then finally fell asleep the first trip. Now
I know that if I just get in the tent and nap with them
they will fall asleep. Bringing their key crib
loveys/friends is crucial - they are so excited to see
their friends in the tent! Breakfast was interesting as
they wanted their milk and breakfast NOW and you have
to get your camp stove going, etc. Definitely bring
lots of snacks to ply them with as you try to get
campsite tasks done! We bought them their own little
folding camp chairs and they were so proud to have
their own camp chairs. We had many wonderful walks in
the woods right next to the campsite - it's so fun to
see nature through their eyes.I highly recommend
camping with the little ones when you feel ready -it's
so much fun for everyone! Even better is camping with
another family with kids for them to play with. More
adult hands, more companionship for the kids, more fun!
