When you're a new parent home with newborn twins (or
more!), sometimes you feel like all you do is feed your
babies. SFPOM is here to help you feed yourselves, too!
The club's New Parent Meal Committee is committed to
bringing you a healthy, well-balanced meal anytime
within the first year. You can also request that the
volunteer, a seasoned parent of multiples, stick around
and chat for a while -- whether it's for advice or just
to have some adult time. If things feel so hectic
you'd prefer someone just drop a meal off without
staying, that's great, too.Please email meals@sfpom.org
to sign up!

My severe back & buttock pain was completely alleviated
just by switching shoes. I can't remember the brand,
but I basically lived in the really ugly cushioned
shoes. (Easy Spirit?) good luck!

I use the big pregnancy pillow shaped as a C which
covers my entire body, but that hasn't helped much. I
may have to try those 'ugly' shoes! Any particular
style or just any of the easy spirit shoes? Thanks!

Hi I posted for openings at our small french immersion
preschool a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not sure they
still have the two openings. Just search french
preschool on the forums and it should come up. If it
does not, e-mail me and I can send you the info
directly. However, the school is in South San
Francisco and only full day (but you can pick 2 to 5
days per week). It is difficult to find two spots in SF
preschools on such short notice. I had my boys on the
wait list since 10 months old for our preschool spot.
We were just accepted at an excellent grade school and
I asked the director if I could post here before she
gives the spot away, so another twin family may have a
chance to get in. Cheers Barbara

Another piece of advise a friend and fellow mom gave me
was that all babies are different in terms of their
sleep needs and you should follow the patterns for your
child as needed (within the boundaries/expectations you
set). For example, our babies (currently 13 months)
sleep a solid 12 hours at night and have since around 4
months or so. They haven't been and still aren't the
biggest nappers. Also, every day varies in terms of
the lengths of their naps. They are still on two naps
(potentially transitioning to one soon) and those naps
(generally around 8:30/9 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m.
or so) could be half an hour or two hours, depending on
the day. Usually their naps are shorter versus longer,
and as hard as that it for me (less mommy time) I have
come to accept shorter and unexpected length of naps,
particularly as they have such a long stretch at night.
We have tried a lot in terms of leaving them in the
crib etc. when their naps were/are shorter but for my
babes at least, once their nap is over, generally their
nap is over. That doesn't mean we rush to them when
they awake and sometimes that *Pause* results in them
going back to sleep but not typically. I've found it's
also a delicate balance since they share a room, in
terms of making sure I don't let them cry/scream long
enough during the daytime sleep to wake the other babe.
We are also lucky that our babes typically are able to
sleep soundly and well in the stroller/car so we can
nap out and about when needed too.

I agree with the previous reccomendation, we had Dr.
Field, now retired, and Dr. Regenstein in the
perinatology department. Both were amazing! very
knowledgeable, supportive and attentive. Plus the nurse
Candy was the kindest contact. I would go with the
specialist, a general OB doesn't have enough experience
and knowledge.Congratulations!SolanaSent from my

My husband is the same way. At first I let it be, and
just turned the bouncy seats around so the babies
weren't actually facing the TV. I think it was around 3
or 4 months when I insisted he keep it off most of the
time, with the exceptions being Sundays during football
season, and otherwise if he was actually watching a
specific important game (NBA finals ok, random baseball
game between teams in which you have no interest, turn
it off). But I always tried to keep the kids' focus
elsewhere, even when it was hard.
