You might also try acupuncture (being sure to work with
someone who's got experience with pregnant
mamas-to-be!) And, in addition to the stuff listed
above, sleeping with a pillow between your knees could
help a bit too... I hope you get some relief soon!

I see Dr Eileen Aicari at golden gate pediatrics which
is practically across the street fom cpmc. She has twin
boys (grown now) and I find her personal experience
with twins helpful.

Try SF Bay pediatrics, we really like dr. Goldstein and
dr. Pepitone.

Thanks for the responses. My twin pregnancy is
considered low risk, and we have not been referred to
the perinatology dept despite a request for a consult.
Everything is going well and we are only at 24 weeks
right now-- which is why I am told they will not talk
to us yet. It would be nice to get some better answers
on twin pregnancy questions than we are currently
receiving. Hopefully as the pregnancy progresses into
the third trimester and we start really discussing
child birth options/possibilities, they will let us
speak to the perinatologists. It sounds like they're
great!

There's an excellent FAQs-type summary here, that
approaches this topic from a lot of different angles
(but the bottom line is as you suspected - it's not
great for young kids.)
http://www.pbs.org/parents/childrenandmedia/article-faq.html#americanacademyHere's
another, from a British source, more of a scientific
bent:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/01/090113074419.htmI
know I've also read something specifically about the
optical/neurological part of it, and all the flickering
light not being healthy for developing little brains,
but I couldn't find that easily...
