With an increase in household help (nanny, cleaners
etc) I would like to get a reliable safe to keep hidden
in the house. Not huge, just big enough for some
valuable/sentimental jewelry and watches and important
documents. Any suggestions?

Hi!I have both the City Mini and the City Select, and
depending on what you want to do to, one is better than
the other. If you will just be taking the kids on
strolls and to the playground, then the Mini is just
fine and actually feels really good and light (down
side is the terrible basket underneath that is
impossible to get things in/out of). However, if you
would like to take more serious walks and potentially
go grocery shopping, etc., then I would HIGHLY
recommend the Select. It has an amazing basket that
can fit a medium load of groceries (!), folds really
small, has great forever-air tires, and I can maneuver
it with one hand The price was an issue for us, but we
got ours on Craigslist and we LOVE IT. I was against a
tandem at first, but it turns out, it is SO much easier
for negotiating on city streets and in shops, and my
kids actually like it much, much more. They are nearly
1 and I always put them in the regular seats facing
each other, and they LOVE playing footsie and chatting.
In the Mini they can tolerate being in it for about
45mins, but after that they get annoyed; in the Select,
they are much happier. Plus, the seats are offset so
that even when both facing forward, both kids can see.
I honestly did not expect to love this stroller so
much, but it's the BEST, and I think you could get away
with using it as your only stroller, everywhere. I
hope that helps!Caroline

My twins are almost 6 months, and we bought the City
Mini about a month ago and use it all the time. We
really like it - its comfortable for the babies, easy
to manuever, goes on flats and low hills. Our nanny
likes it as well. The downside is that it is really too
broad to take into small stores and restaurants. I look
longingly at restaurants when we pass by wishing it did
not feel so awkward going into them. We are strongly
considering also getting the City Select for this
reason.

Hi, my twins are now 4 years old so we aren't using
strollers anymore. But we did use the double snap & go
for a long time when they were infants -- probably
until about 9 or 10 months old. I also used a double
Maclaren in the neighborhood. I didn't find ours was
as easy to fold down as the snap & go and I liked being
able to put our twins in the car seats and just move
them from car to stroller. That's why I tended to use
the Maclaren only in our neighborhood when I didn't
need the car seats. But then when our twins were about
11 months old we bought a City Mini double stroller.
We LOVED it! And we used it EVERYWHERE! It became our
go-to stroller for the neighborhood, for putting in the
car to take with us and even on trips on the airplane.
(We bought a case to protect it and we would gate check
it. In the end, the Maclaren is lighter weight and
smaller when folded down, so we started using it for
airplane travel.)I thought the big pockets in the back
and the big basket underneath were easy to access and
could store a lot. It is an easy stroller to maneuver
and has great shade coverage with the adjustable
canopies over each seat. You can recline the seats,
although I rarely did that.If I had to do it all over
again, I would do it the same way, for sure.Good luck
and welcome to San Francisco. It is a terrific city to
live in with children!

I also loved the City Mini Double after my guys outgrew
their bucket car seats. It's very stable and doesn't
tip easily, so it's super easy to hang heavy shopping
bags from the handle. If we were going somewhere where
I needed to be more nimble I would put one baby in a
single Maclaren Triumph (12 lbs) and wear the other in
an Ergo. I could even manage Muni with that
combo.Strollers are like golf clubs- there isn't one
that's perfect for every situation. Don't limit
yourself to just one stroller. There are some great
deals to be had on used gear!

I am rather obsessed with my Bumbleride Indie Twin, for
what it's worth. Would not recommend for travel as it
takes up nearly the entire trunk of my station wagon,
but it is incredible for around the city and also does
great on sand/trails.

Hi Jessica,We will be coming to San Francisco after a
long stay in India with our 5 month old b/g twins. I
anticipate we may need some help for a few nights only,
would Patty be able to help with that and also possibly
with sleep training as their schedule is going to be
completely off (with the time difference and jet lag).
If she is willing to help with this, could you please
ask her to contact me at karu_garg@hotmail.com. I
cannot call her as I am currently in India. Thanks very
much,Karuna

I had the same experience as Amy. Actually, Cheri
Barzottini was also my NP/OB for years, but I never
ended up seeing her because she was out on maternity a
lot! When I got pregnant, I went with Joan Murphy (who
was available to see me) and she turned out to be fine.
Not AWESOME, but totally fine and competent. Very no
nonsense, which I appreciated at times, and was
frustrating at times. She did correctly predict some of
the complications I ended up developing, and she said
she had a fair amount of twin experience, and had some
specialized training in high risk pregnancies (which
mine was not.)I was also referred to the perinatal
service to help me monitor contractions - which never
ended up being a problem for me. Then I was referred to
a high blood pressure specialty service, which I only
ended up speaking with a couple of times. I also went
in for weekly NSTs starting at 28 or 30 weeks, and the
nurses there were all great. My OB consulted with Dr.
Reganstein often, but I never met with her. Dr.
Collingham did my CVS, and was fine and very competent.
But when I ended up in the hospital with complications,
I REALLY disliked his bedside manner, and ended up
requesting someone else. We then met with Dr. Lee
(there's an OB Dr. Lee and a perinatologist Dr. Lee -
we met with the perinatologist) whom we liked much
better. In my two weeks at the hospital I met a LOT of
the different OBs, perinatologists, and then
neonatologists and neonatal nurses. So if you want to
talk about anyone specific, or about any of my
experiences at Kaiser (which I was generally really
happy with), feel free to shoot me an email.Good
luck!Jessica
