My twins are almost two weeks old and my husband and I
have noticed one of the twins, Baby B, has a strong
preference for turning his head to the right. He sleeps
with his head turned to the right and more disturbingly
contorts his head way to the right while arching his
back when he's upset. He and his sister were both head
down and birthed with the aid of a vacuum at just about
38 weeks. My guess is his sister was able to move more
freely in utero because she was lower and he was pinned
in one position. Ultrasounds in the later weeks always
showed their heads butted against each other. My
husband and I have raised our concerns with our
pediatrician who has tried to reassure us he's fine.
The pediatrician had said that preferential head
turning can be a sign of a broken clavicle bone, but
that he feels no broken bone in our boy.I've read
online about something called torticollis. It sounds
like multiples can be more susceptible to it due to
their cramped quarters. I was wondering if any other
multiples parent has come across this neck turning in
one or more of their children, if the condition went
away on its own or if a diagnosis and physical therapy

Hello Hae,I was worried, too, with one of my twin
girls. I swear it looked like her right ear was glued
to her right shoulder for weeks! My doctor reassured
me that she would grow out of it and, indeed, she did.
She's 11 now and you'd never know she had this odd
position of comfort when she was weeks old. As an
interesting sidenote, she was Baby A and was down low
and cramped for weeks at the end of my 38.5 week
pregnancy versus her Baby B sister who was doing
cartwheels and would stretch out above her with all the

Hi, our baby B was transverse and subjected to a very
active baby A. He was born with a fairly strong
torticollis, hearing issues, etc. etc. We waited too
long to understand the torticollis (we thought he was
turning his head to hear better) and he had a lot of
flat head issues that will remain for him (he's 5.5
now). I wouldn't be frightened about it and it sounds
like some children grow out of it, but if you can, I
highlyrecommend seeing Ann Honigman-she is a
chiropractor, cranial sacral therapist, osteopath (I
believe) and an overall magician! Dr Ann Honigman

our son over the years. If you go, please tell her the
Zettler-Bray's sent you! She has lots of experience
with infants and children. (If you're in the city,

We're going on a cruise in a week, and cribs for our
2.5 yr-old twins aren't available. The cruiseline
evidently has decided they're too old for cribs, and
two won't fit in the room anyway. The only thing I can
think of using are inflatable railings on the beds. If
you have any to sell or loan, please let me know. Or if
you have any other ideas, I'm open. Would a rolled up
towel work? Doesn't seem like it would be high enough.
We don't know the configuration of the room, so we
don't know if we'll be able to move the beds to be

Hi, I am not sure if it would work on a cruise but swim
noodles work well for some kids. We are just back from
a cabin vacation and used extra pillows on twin beds.
The first few night the 2.75 olds kept falling on the
floor, but they learned after 3 nights and slept well
after that. However, our kids are already in toddler
beds with very small rails at home and it also took
them a few nights before they stopped falling on the
floor at night.If nothing else works, put your own
mattress close to their bed to catch them at night.

I'm with Holly on this one, I probably couldn't put up
with someone whodidn't care about something as
fundamental as food. If she's too lazy todo a good job
with this -- what other short cuts is she taking?
Puttingyour kids in front of the TV all day? I don't
enjoy cooking and don't cookfor my husband or me, but I
cook for my kids and it's not that hard: steaming a few
bits and pieces. I save pouches for a last resort --
theyare basically all apple sauce. I know how hard it
is to find a nanny youcan trust, so I can see your
conflict, but I think this is a pretty bigissue.--

HiWe went to Paris when our boys were 6 mos.We also had
bulkhead seats with 2 bassinets...We used a double
combi stroller which folds nicely and was
extremelydurable (lasted through many France & Hawaii
trips!We used our baby bijorns as well.It was so long
ago so ago I can't remember much other useful
info...Have a great trip! babies are so portable!We are
here again with our twins, each trip is so different as

Re sleeping on plane, that didn't happen for our boys
at all, there was just too much stimulation. But, you
could try a bit of benedryl or something else your
pediatrician would recommend to help knock them out for
at least a few hours on the flight. Plan on not resting
much yourself and have all your essentials with you. We
were formula feeding at the time, and I didn't bring
enough so had to have a can shipped over which cost
over $100! (One boy had sensitivities so I had to use a
specific brand...) I also went to Amazon.UK to order
diapers and have them shipped in advanced. This saved a
lot of space in our luggage. Don't forget the kids need
passports too. We got our photos done at the post
office on Diamond Heights, and it was ok there. Not
great but we managed to get it done. Good luck!
