Our pediatrician caught our Baby A's torticollis when
he was around three months old. At her recommendation,
we had a consultation and started "physical therapy"
sessions with Christine Egan in Marin. Christine is
wonderful, specializes in infants/children, was
incredibly accommodating of my crazy twins schedule.
and showed us a few tricks to do at home. In our son's
case, he had a head tilt from womb positioning which
created a flat spot on his head and then, once the flat
spot was there, it would have gotten worse b/c he
always wanted to "settle" into that position when
sleeping/sitting. We only did the in-office PT
sessions for a little over a month but started
implementing changes at home / way we held him, etc.
Took a few months to clear up completely. Totally
normal (and normal shaped head) now at 18 months.

Our expericence was much like skggmg's, above. For us
it was baby B. We took him to physical therapy and also
a cranial sacral therapist. I think the PT was better.
We went to the CPMC child development center on Van
Ness. If you're interested I can dig up the name &
number of the therapist. She was good. It mostly
involved getting him to want to turn his head the other
way - making noises and holding interesting objects on
that side. He's 2.5 now and totally fine. Oh, and our
pediatrician also had us get his eyes checked, just in
case that was the reason he was turning his head. But
his eyes were fine.

Our pediatrician thought our daughter had torticollois
with right sided preference and mild flattening as a
result when she was only a few weeks old. We were in
New York at the time where they have something called
"early intervention", which is a state sponsored
program and therapists will come evaluate your child
and make recommendations (all covered by the state or
your insurance). Anyway the bottom line is that we were
told that we can deal with this ourselves since her
case was mild. What we did was made sure we gave her
tummy time multiple times, we also lay her on the
"other" side a lot (rather than her back), we also
tried to turn her head to the left side gently when we
could. All of this obviously helped, since the
pediatrician said there was a significant improvement
in her. So she ended up not needing any sort of
therapy. I dont know if you can try all this with your
son, but it helped our daughter. Anyway I hope this
helps and reassures you. Good luck with everything!

I regret not making the effort to find a nanny that
could cook foods for the kids. I worked full time and
came home and had to prepare not only dinner but also
the children's meals the next day. I later found out
from many other mothers that had great nannies that did
both cook and take care of the children so I know that
they are out there. I think it really depends on what
you are paying your nanny, maybe it would be worth your
time to start interviewing and getting referrals for
other nannies. It will make your life a lot easier.

Holly Buchanan commented: Can you pre-make foods that
she heats up? My kids eat cold cheese omelettes, or
reheated french toast. Or, could you encourage
smoothies made with fruits, kale/spinach, yogurt so
that they're getting fresh healthy foods? Savory
baked tofu (in the tofu section of grocery store) is
great cubed for kids, and easy for her to serve.
Spinach nuggets (near the tofu section, in the
vegetarian section) are easy to fry up in a pan and
all-natural. Toaster waffles can be healthy with a
hummus spread on them. I - like you - worked very hard
(in tandem with the nanny) to introduce them to lots of
food so they wouldn't be picky. Now the kids are 2.5
and they are fantastic eaters. I have to say, I would
not be able to put up with a nanny that wouldn't cook
and clean up after themselves. That's a deal breaker
for me. We pay these nannies a lot of money, and they
should not be creating work for us. Good luck with
