1. Nanny Needed Immediately
--------------------------------------------------------
sfmama911 - 7/8/2012 12:31 am
Unfortunately tonight we had to let go of our nanny 10
days before I am scheduled to return to work from
maternity leave. We are looking for a full-time
nanny (40-50 hours/week) to care for our 3 month old
twin girls. We are looking for someone immediately.
We also have a 4 year old son but he is in pre-school
full-time so his care would be minimal. We have a
small, friendly toy poodle, so whoever works with our
family should be comfortable with dogs. We live in the
Inner Richmond, close to major bus lines (Geary and
California) and are walking distance to both Golden
Gate and the Presidio parks.This is a full-time, M-F,
live-out position ideally 8am-7pm. Additional
evening/weekend babysitting hours may be available if
desired. Our daughters are happy and easy-going babies
and we are looking for a reliable, caring, fun and
energetic nanny. We are looking for an experienced nanny
who is organized, knows how to maintain a routine,
engage with our children on new activities to foster
their development and offer suggestions on solving any
problems that may arise. Experience with twins or a
nanny share of children the same ages is welcome. We
would like our nanny to be interactive - the kind that
will talk, sing, make up games, and take the girls to
the park, library, CA Academy of Sciences etc. and on
play dates as they get older.Requirements - Experience
caring for infant children and/or experience at a
professional childcare facility, experience with
multiples or two babies at once is highly preferred-
Must be Legal to permanently work in the US- Be willing
to provide information necessary for a background
verification if requested - Non-smoker - Must be CPR
and First Aid Certified (current certification will
need to be provided)- Must be at least 21 years old-
Excellent references - Comfortable with English
(additional languages are a bonus, but not required)-
Light housekeeping, cooking and errands only as time
permits- Reliable car, valid driver's license and
insurance, and a good driving record for some driving
as neededPlease let us know if you know someone that
would be a fit for our family. Thanks!

2. Babysitter/Nanny question
--------------------------------------------------------
amywink - 7/7/2012 12:50 pm
We have 3mo girls, and are starting to look for a nanny
for when I return to work in Sept, but I also want some
babysitter options for date nights, special events,
etc. and haven't seen many posts about this. For those
of you with nannies, do you have different babysitters
for nighttime? Does your nanny just stay late if you
want a night out? If you have babysitters, where did
you find them? I'm wondering if we should get some
people from care.com and interview them during the time
we are also interviewing nannies.Does anyone have
recommendations for babysitters they employ and would
like to share? Finding someone from this forum would
make me feel the most comfortable, especially since our
girls are still so little. Thanks!Amy

After a 50+ hr work week, my nanny often just wants to
go home. So we use wondersitter a lot. All the
sitters they have sent over have been very good with
twins.

We have mono di girls. 30% size discordance through the
entire pregnancy. They were born at 28 weeks. The
little one was 1 lb 6 oz & big one 2 lb 7oz. Spent 79
days in NICU. Today they are perfect 20 month olds. The
little one is still not on the curve, she weighs 18
lbs. the bigger one is in the 60% at 25 lbs. I think,
although they are identical, there may always be a size
discordan e just how they shared nutrients in utero.
Congrats on making it so far! Your babies will be
perfect! You could deliver today & they would be just
fine.

Just adding my experience, similar to the rest. Our
Di/di girls were born at 38weeks via c section due to
both being breech, and were 7.9 and 6.1. Their last
ultrasound weight estimation was completely wrong, but
did show a significant difference in weights. Those
estimations can be up to a pound wrong in either
direction. Baby A who was7.9 lost more than 10% of her
body weight while still in the hospital, and we had to
supplement her and keep close tabs on her weight the
first few wks until she got back to her birth wt. this
happened within 2-3 wks, I don't remember exactly. Now
they are 12 wks, and baby A weighs a whopping 14.11!
She's a chunk! And to the point, baby B is 3 lbs
lighter. Both are solidly on the curve, just far far
apart. They are the same length, B is just lanky and
light ( Baby Bird) and A is solid (Chubby
McChubberton) leading to a host of fun nicknames ;-).
As all the other posters said, the babies are healthy
and happy, and that's what is important! I was told
the same as you, to keep close tabs on movement for the
smaller one. It is indeed hard to tell them apart
while still inside you, but they won't really move
position since you're so far along, so you can kind of
tell who is who if they are on different sides, as mine
were. That said, the bigger girl was ALWAYS more
active in utero, so I was used to her movements. I'd
say don't worry about that, if the movements don't
change from what you are used to, you shouldn't be
concerned.Good luck on your delivery, and have fun with
your babies!
