looking for postpartum night doula work from late
August 2012I employed this caregiver from April 2012 to
July 2012 I highly recommend her because: Jackie
worked with us and our boy/girl twins from April until
present (approx 3 months). We highly recommend Jackie
because of her professional and caring nature. She
was there for us one hour after we came home from the
hospital with our twins in desperate need of sleep and
support, and has been a 'sight for sore eyes' every
evening when she arrives ever since. Jackie has not
only been extremely caring with our twins, and we feel
we can completely entrust their care to her, but she
has been of great support to us as parents as we
navigate feeding, sleeping, health issues for our
babies, but also she is proactive in discussing their
development with us and making suggestions for new
things we can try out, and helping with ideas to make
our lives easier and getting out and about with the
babies. Jackie has extensive experience working with
twins which enables her to help provide us with advice
on her experience with her past twins. Jackie helped
me to get more sleep by bottle feeding for the late
evening feed and then waking me (gently!) for the
middle of the night breastfeed, and she has been very
supportive in establishing tandem breast-feeding.
Jackie takes care of everything baby-related while we
sleep - washing the bottles and pacifiers, doing and
folding baby laundry, and tidying up the nursery so
it's all ready to go in the morning. Child's age: 3
monthsDoes the caregiver drive: yesRecent
immunizations: all are currentTB test: yes

Lana_Sunset - 7/10/2012 9:29 am
Hi - we're expecting twin boys in mid-August and have
been looking for a live-in Nanny starting around August
1 to initially help me with the newborns and later to
provide full care once I go back to work Oct 1. If
anyone has any recommendations for either nanny's or
good sources of live-in nannies with twin experience...
let me know. Thanks for reading.

Search the forum for "Dalia" and call her. She might
be available and is wonderful in general but especially
with twins. Good luck and congratulations!

Our old Nanny is not currently working and has night
doula experience as well. She has only worked with
twins for about 5 years now, both as daytime nanny and
night time doula. She is fantastic, her name is
Adriana Alves, and she can be reached at
drimanteguinha@hotmail.com or by phone 415-370-4176.
Good luck! I have an extensive review on her on
Care.com which you can look up for more details. She
has a nursing degree and speaks English, Portuguese and
Spanish.

hi, i used to teach piano, beginning with kids at age
3, and just thought i'd offer up some unsolicited
advice. if your children are exhibiting a love for
music (which is fantastic), you may want to treat it
like soccer practice. fun, informal. an hour or so a
week. no practicing, no expectations. pay for it like
swim lessons, soccer, anything else with no pressure.
week after week. year after year. the goal being to
instill a love of music for a lifetime. just like
biking, hiking, tennis, whatever else...i would chat
with parents to discuss my philosophy prior to agreeing
to take on kids for lessons. trying to get parents
into what i consider a reasonable expectations
headspace...that one 1/2-1hr lesson a week with no
mandatory additional practicing x 52weeks/year x 15
years = 400-800 hours = the child will know how to play
the piano very well, and will have this skill to enjoy
for the rest of his/her life! i love music and i love
the piano instrument dearly. growing up, most all of
my friends' parents forced them to practice during the
week between lessons and after a couple of years they
stopped taking lessons altogether. i was the only one
still playing during senior year of high school, and
into college. somewhere during/around junior high/high
school i started practicing a ton (hours at a time),
and my parents had to pry me away to help with chores,
setting the table, doing dishes, homework, etc...
:)and now, at a most basic level, it's so rewarding at
christmastime to sit down, open up some music, sight
read it, play carols, and have family sing along. just
lovely. not to begin to mention how much joy i get
playing privately.anyhow, my two cents. just there
seems to be something about parents paying for ymca
programs, soccer, or whatever else year after year
where there's not an expectation to take it too
seriously - we're not (necessarily) expecting our kids
to be professional athletes. however, there's often a
different expectation with music lessons, a seriousness
about it, an expectation for a certain rigor to be
applied, which often steals away the joy. and often
the very long term goal of cultivating lifelong
enjoyment gets lost. hope you find that useful. my
best, jen

Hi - my name is Lana and we're expecting identical twin
boys by Mid August. Would love to get together
before/after... Haven't been to the Day One meetings
yet but may go to the second one in July. If folks are
up to it - we can plan to meet up one of these weekends
at some place like Cafe Riggolo in Laurel Village. I
live in Ourter Richmond but for now, am still able to
get around within city. Thanks for starting the thread
Adrienne.
