We will be relocating to San Francisco in August and
are looking for a full-time nanny to care for our
2-year old twin boys. The idea candidate is:- prior
twin experience- fluent in English and Spanish- drives,
with clean driving record- flexible hours- non-smoker-
punctualWe are looking for someone who can work longer
hours, as my husband and I work full-time (8am until
6pm M-F, and willing to stay late for extra pay as
needed). Duties include taking the boys to activities
during the day, children's cooking and laundry,
occasionally putting away groceries when delivered,
picking up after children, organizing playdates, etc.
Job location is Eureka Heights (Castro/Noe area).We
will be conducting phone screenings during July and
in-person interviews in San Francisco during the first
week of August. Start date will be September, but if
possible we'd like some part-time help during the first
two weeks of August as we get settled in and to help
the boys get used to their new caregiver.We are looking
for a long-term caregiver and hope to find somebody
that can fit well with our family. As the boys
transition into school over the next few years, the
caregiver's responsibilities would be shifted to
housework/errands during the day and after-school

Dear All,My 15-year old daughters are around and
footloose through the end of this month, and possibly
for some time in August. They are eagerly looking for
work, and would be interested in mother's helper work,
perhaps some projects you have around the house where
hard-working teenagers might be able to help. They
have great computer skills, and work pretty hard. We
are near California between Laurel Village and Fillmore
St., and anything within a reasonable bus ride or walk

3. Question re Notice/Severance for Nanny?

We've unexpectedly been informed by a daycare/preschool
that they will have two spots available this fall. Our
girls have had the same (wonderful) nanny for over a
year now. Our nanny knows that we've applied to this
daycare but, in May, I had reassured her that we would
not be transitioning until 2013 at the earliest based
on what the director of the school had told me at that
time.My question is, What is the standard notice /
severance for a long time nanny? (1 week? 2 weeks?
One month?) I'm also uncertain how much notice I
should give her -- my inclination is to give her as
much notice as possible so that she can find another
family. Also, for those who have gone through this
transition, do you have a time period during which you
phase in daycare / phase out the nanny / allow for
good-byes? Or is it Friday with nanny, the following
Monday at daycare? Any guidance/experiences
appreciated!

Both times I've faced this (once because we moved away
earlier than we thought, the other because daycare had
spots open earlier than we'd thought) I gave the nanny
as much notice as possible. The first was 6 weeks, the
second time was 4 weeks. They were both very thankful
for the notice, and they approached their job search
being open with the new families that they weren't
available until after our job ended. I have a friend
who was a nanny once and was only given 2 weeks notice
and she was deeply hurt both emotionally and
financially. I think if you care for this person, and
you respect what they've done for your family, you
should trust that they will do what's right with the
most amount of notice. As for severance, we gave one a
"gift" of one week's pay because we loved her very much
and she was part of the family. The second one was
more short term and we didn't offer a severance because
we'd been open from the beginning that as soon as
daycare opened up we'd be letting her go. She
understood. Good luck!

We also gave our nannies as much notice as possible,
but the biggest thing we did for them was to help find
them another job. It was time consuming to get the word
out and give recommendations, but it really made all
the difference. We even offered to let people come over
to our house to see them "in action" with our children.

6. 24-Hour Nurse Available Early September

We have two week old twins and have a great baby nurse,
Monica Rosa. We are going to be using her for two
months, so she will be available for another family
(singleton or twins) around September 4. She is from
New York but would love to stay here in SF for her next
job.She is flexible and takes breaks around your
schedule, sleeps when the baby sleeps, etc. I found her
prices to be reasonable compared to other nurses. She
also cooks for the family, cleans all baby gear, and is
great with older siblings.If you are interested, tent

7. potty training questions

I'm looking for information about how to potty train
twins. Are there special considerations? Right now they
try to push each other off the potty, which gets
distracting for little ones who need to concentrate.
Did you put potties right next to each other? How many
in a house? I've tried downloading the potty training
info on the big tent site several times and it's not
working but other files are. Can anyone send me the
tips and signs of readiness info.? Any other
recommended reading/ easy tips? THanks two million! : )

We just got honda pilot. We have a 2.5 year old and
newborn twins. We put the toddler in the third row and
the twins in the center and drivers side in the second
row. This way an adult can easily sit in the second row
as well. Not sure if that works with the odyssey. We
had my daughter's older cousins sit in the third row
first and she saw that and thought it was really
cool,so she was happy to sit there.But i agree, maybe
ask your toddler where she would like to sit.
