Hello, we are thinking about moving to the Inner
Richmond so I wanted to see if anyone lived there and
can tell me if the morning fog and early evening fog
bothers them at all. We currently live on the cusp
past Masonic so we get more Sun. I wasn't sure if
moving to a place that gets more fog would be a
dtrastic difference or not that noticable. It's a
big move and I want to make sure we make the right
decision.

I think the weather is something you get used to. We
used to live n North Beach (even more sun!) before
moving to the Inner Richmond. It doesn't really bother
us since we can always drive to sun if we need to :-)I
guess you also have to look at what type of activities
you do during the day, e.g. evening dinners on the
patio. It might get chilly doing it, but I know
friends who live on 7th, and have an outdoor fireplace.
They will sit outside, in the fog, with fleece on, and
enjoy themselves. Depends on what works for your
family and how far west you go. We're at Arguello.

3. pack-n-play or crib for newborn twins

We are expecting twins in October and are going to get
a pack-n-play for them to sleep in in our room, but for
their room do you recommend getting a crib for them to
sleep or should we put them in a second pack-n-play for
the first couple months and then buy cribs for them?-

hi leslie, congratulations! we used a lalapanzi on the
floor beside our bed at the beginning (we lowered our
bed to be closer to the floor). we even brought the
lalapanzi to the hospital for the birth and the girls
slept with my husband in it on the pull out couch/bed.
next, we put one crib in our room by our bed. the
lalapanzi -

- was nice at the beginning because we could
effortlessly carry it around the house when they were
little and in the car too. they fit in it together.
we only bought one.eventually we put a crib in their
room, then moved the one from our room to their room so
they'd be in there together, each in her own crib. the
pack and plays we bought are the bigger square graco
ones from citikids. more room for playing alone or
together -

we use one in the living room still - the girls are 12
months now - when cooking dinner, etc. we bought two
of them, in different colors. we've also used these as
portable cribs. they've flown cross-country with us
and we have taken them to our cottage as cribs. we
also sometimes throw one in the car when we go on
weekend picnic day trips. i bought jersey fitted
sheets for when we use them as cribs -

5. Night nurse/nanny or night doula?

leslieborkow - 8/9/2012 7:40 pm
We are planning on getting a night nurse or doula to
help us out once our twins are born. Do you have a
recommendation on whether we should go with a night
nurse or night doula? And do you have any
recommendations for either?- Leslie

Use a solvent cleaner, like goo-gone or Citris-solv.
I've gotten lipstick out of fabric with those, so it
should work on desitin.

I'm also an SFUSD teacher and I agree - go down to 555
Franklin and be persistent. Also, schools do a "10-day
count" once school begins. This shows whether each site
is under-enrolled, and allows the downtown placement
office to open up more spots. One thing that will not
help is going to the school site itself. There is
nothing they can do there; downtown is in charge of all
placements. Good luck!
