2. Getting rid of facial scars
--------------------------------------------------------
sfmama09 - 8/10/2012 2:53 pm
My twins had chicken pox (immunizations are given at 12
months but we were 5 months late in immunizations due
to frequent sickness and in my opinion to some extent
pediatrician's negligence). In any case, one of my
girls scratched and scratched her face and I couldn't
stop her - she picked her scabs. As a result she has 5
very significant big scars on her face. Her sister
healed up very well with minimal scaring. I am very
upset about the whole ordeal. I know the scars will
fade with time but it will take a long time (many
years) and I suspect there will always be a significant
marks. We do everything at home we can - Maderma,
Vitamin E, and Sunblock for outside. I am also going to
take her to a dermatologist for a consultation but I'm
wondering if I should also consider a plastic surgeon
type of consult?Any experience/advice with getting rid
of scars is much appreciated.

We're on 2nd Ave in the Inner Richmond, and we love it.
Sure it's foggy (and windy!!), but like sharono said,
you can get to sunshine very easily. We have a
west-facing bay window, and watching the fog roll in a
night and hearing the foghorn is so beautiful. Not to
mention, the neighborhood is great for walks, doing
errands on foot, getting to know your neighbors, and
it's generally very quiet, plus you are close to GGP
and Presidio.

Hi Rebecca, does the fog generally clear up by 11 am
and then come back by 5pm?? My husband hung out there
today and reassured me that it does get sunshine. From:

Mary, just to give you an idea. When I left this
morning to take my toddler to preschool (on 28th Ave.)
at 9, the fog was really heavy and thick all over (as I
headed to Colma). By the time I came back from running
errands at 1, it was cloudless and sunny over GG Park,
where the Outlands Festival is playing. I did not
think that area was going to see the sun at all
today!Anyway, if it was like that at 1, over that area
of town, then it was probably already sunny by 11 in
the Inner Richmond. The fog usually burns off by noon,
but depending on the day, it can roll back in before 5.
But there are lots of days where it will still be
bright, i.e. not foggy, at 7 or 8.Masonic isn't that
far east of the Inner Richmond, so figure that you
might get a half hour more "sun" in the morning and
afternoon.

we get some sun then I'll be happy to move there. We
love the house so wish us luck on our bid!!! From:

Hi Leslie,Congratulations on your twin pregnancy! Before
my twins were born we did buy 2 cribs even though we
intended to sleep them in 1 crib at first. I was
really glad that we had done so because I don't know
when we would have found the time to go buy another
crib and set it up. We used the "empty" crib to store
extra linens and things while both babies slept in 1
crib. Then when we were ready to make the transition
to 2 cribs, it was easy. Time and sleep are precious
once you have 2 newborn babies, so if you can afford
the money and the space now, I highly recommend getting
2 cribs before your twins are born.We also used a
pack'n'play in our living room, where our twins napped
for the first 6 months. Because our house is on 3
levels, it was much easier for us to have this set-up
instead of having them nap in the crib in their
bedroom. We used 2 pack'n'plays as they got bigger for
travel and also for napping. (Once we figured out that
our son took shorter naps than our daughter at around
age 1.5-2 years old, we started putting 1 twin in
his/her crib in the bedroom and the other twin in a
pack'n'play in another room. At night they always
slept in the same room.)For me, personally, I was
really glad that we had all this gear before the twins
were born just because it was there as soon as we
needed it. I hope this input helps you.Good
luck,Virginia

Thank you for all of your recommendations! I hadn't
heard of a lalapanzi bed until now.I was thinking about
how it could be a big pain to have to purchase and set
up crib(s) after they arrive, as I'm sure we'll be so
tired and busy that'll be the last thing either one of
us wants to/can do. Thanks for the tip to just buy
them both now.

I need a solution for my 19 month old girls jumping out
of the crib and I have reviewed the crib tent
discussions here. Unfortunately the Tots in Mind Crib
Tent has been recalled in July
(http://emmaus.patch.com/articles/crib-tents-sold-at-walmart-recalled-1d53c666).
Are there any other crib tents I could purchase? I
can't seem to find anything else online.
