1. Baby Jogger Summit XC Triple Stroller
--------------------------------------------------------
lizzie01 - 8/13/2012 11:01 pm
I am looking to purchase this stroller...it has been
discontinued by Baby Jogger but there are still a few
left floating around. I am wondering if anyone owns
this stroller and whether they like it or use it. Since
it's been discontinued, I can't find one in a store to
take a look at, so before I order it, I'd like to hear
what other moms have to say about it. Even better, I'd
love to take a look at one if anyone does own one.I
have an 18 month old and 3 month old twins, so I am
going to need this for some jogging and for some
walking, just so I can get out for some exercise and
keep everyone corralled. :)Oh, and if you do own one
and don't use it, I might also be willing to take it
off your hands, if you are interested.

2. places to stop on I-5 from LA to SF?

nodelmonkey - 8/13/2012 7:37 pm
We're headed back to SF from southern California this
week and are planning to stop one or two places for
food and for the kids to run around along I-5. Will
also have our dog with us so need a place he can get
out with us since it will be too hot to leave him in
the car. Looking for a playground or open space
halfway between LA and SF or anywhere in route along
I-5. Any suggestions?

There is a park with trees and playground equipment
called Keck Park in Coalinga. Coalinga is about 10
miles off I-5, exit 325, West Jane Avenue. I also
recommend stopping at Pea Soup Anderson's in Gustine,
although that is pretty far north. You can also stop
near Bakersfield, exit 244, Taft Hwy 119 West, and go
to Lake Webb on Ironbark Road, but not sure if they
allow dogs.

4. co-op preschool

lisamudd - 8/13/2012 3:52 pm
Hello, I am starting to look into involving my kids in
a co-op (or at least getting on a wait-list to start).
Ideally, I would like 3 days. I envision working one
day with them at the co-op and then making my own
personal transition back to work the other two days.
Wondering if anyone has worked with a co-op that they
like? What has your experience been? Are there certain
things I should be looking for in a co-op based on your
experience? A little about us: We live in Bernal
Heights...so would want to stay in the general
vicinity, our children are 19 months old (B/G), I am a
former teacher (grade school), and I am looking for
something that would be more play-based. Thanks!

The next big step!Almost all coops I know you have to
work 1 day per child. So with 2 kids you work 2 days
and get 1 day off. We ultimately didn't choose the coop
for that reason. Another important thing to ask is how
many after hours of volunteering are required.
Volunteering is not an option at coops, it mandatory.
There is also required training hours.Ultimately choose
the school with "the director" you get along with best,
coop or not. Glenridge in glen park is the one we liked
best. I know of 3 sfpom famalies that are there.

6. convertible car seats: Britax Marathon 70 Vs. Graco MyRide
65, thoughts?
--------------------------------------------------------
nodelmonkey - 8/13/2012 1:24 pm
We are needing to move to the next level of car seats.
The belts are on the last notch and are super tight,
plus we're reaching the height max. Currently we have
two Graco Snugride 35's and sit them side by side in
the back of our BMW X5 (to allow a passenger to get in
and sit easily from the other side). I'm debating
moving to Britax Marathon 70 or Graco MyRide 65. I
found a great comparison at
http://www.raisingsmallsouls.com/britax-marathon-70-vs-graco-myride-65/.
Curious if any of you have either of these seats and
see pros/cons to yours? We keep them mainly in one car
but would love to be able to travel with them as well.

My parents are coming to SF for two weeks in September
to help me out with my daughter and newborn twins. If
anyone can recommend a 1BR vacation rental, ideally, in
USF/Panhandle area, I'd appreciate it. So far, we
haven't been able to find reasonably priced apartments
that are available during their stay. Thanks!

9. letting nanny go
--------------------------------------------------------
anonymous - 8/13/2012 9:11 am
Hi, We had hired a nanny for our twins "on trial" since
she has no twin experience etc, and the decision was to
give her 2 weeks notice if we did not want to keep her.
We found another experienced nanny who we like, she
cannot start for a couple more weeks though. My
question is how to handle this situation. I feel
uncomfortable leaving my kids with the present nanny
after having told her that we will let her go in 2
weeks. Another option is to keep her working till the
end and just give her 2 weeks severance. Is that fair?
How would you moms handle this? Thanks very much for
your input.

They're great and and great deal, but my daughter's
last 2 ended up stretching out and sagging. The outer
layer of fabric stretched out and sagged on both suits.
Any idea what I may have done to cause this, or is
this inevitable? Each one has lasted her only about 6
months or less! Thanks for any input! Susan Add your

Never wring the suits. Always just squeeze the water
out.Chlorine from pools can do it so always rinse/soak
in water after wearing right away.I also wonder if
sunscreen can do it but not quite convinced of that

I'd second the not wringing -- and rinse in COLD, clean
(i.e., not chlorinated) water after each use and let
air dry... although none of that will help the
already-stretched out suit. What about calling
Speedo's customer service number? <6 months seems
like an awfully short life-span, but I don't really
know...

Thanks all. I suspected that my one wringing out this
past week while we were on vacation did it! That's a
good suggestion about contacting Speedo. I'll do that
and NOT wring out again!By the way, did you all know
that Twice as Nice (in Half Moon Bay) sells off season
Costco items? The have lots of Kirkland brand stuff
for half price. I got my daughter another speedo there
for half the price, or about $7. Still, the full price
at Costco is very reasonable too! Thanks again for all
the input.Susan_________________ From: Hannah Goh To:

I've travelled with Chicco Keyfit 30 car seats a couple
of times. Both times with bases, and the airline just
checks it (for free) with the base and car seat clicked
in, making one unit. But we have also put the car seats
into the car without bases a couple of times, and it
wasn't quite as easy as with the bases, but totally
doable, and not too complicated. If you don't mind the
extra weight and bulk to and from the airport, then I'd
say take them. If you rather travel lean, then leave
them at home, and you'll be fine. Also - I guess it
depends how much you'll be driving at your destination.
If there will be a lot of in and out of the car, then
it may be worth bringing the bases. You will be fine
either way, though! Happy travels!

You can bring the bases and check them at the gate or
with your luggage for free. If you are going for a
quick visit and want to travel a little lighter, its
pretty easy to travel without the bases. If you still
have your car seat manual instructions will be in
there, otherwise you can find instructions and a video
on youtube.

We have used Earth Baby since the boys were about 6
months old (they are 2 1/2 now). The diapers work
really well for us, and we haven't had any issues
overall. The service is prompt, and updating orders is
easy. Our only small problem now is that my bigger boy
is getting a bit too big for their largest size and he
is not into the pull ups. We will be potty training
soon, so it will be fine, but that would be my only
complaint really. (My other boy still fits fine, just
for the record.) I highly recommend them.
