Hi,A friend of mine in Sweden is having a hard time
right now. His mom had a left brain stroke 20 days ago.
His family decided to put her in a center where she is
not very well taken care of (no rehabilitation, poor
care, very limited family visits...) but they all think
she won't get any better and think it is good for her
(this is in a very small and remote town in Sweden,
where she is close to her husband). My friend is trying
to convince them that she needs a better place, but so
far has had no luck. I am wondering if any of you has
had any experience on strokes or knows of a specialist
doctor who might be able to write something convincing
to his family that she needs a better place. I know
this sounds a little desperate, but my friend is really
desperate, seeing his mom suffering and not being able
to help her. Any ideas would be great! Thanks so much.

in October. Unfortunately my husband and I need to
work remotely so need some assistance with our 4 mo
twins and occasionally some help with our 4 yo son.

Hi - I need some encouragement/advice: we are planning
to sleep train our twins in a few weeks time when they
are 4.5 months - i am currently getting so little sleep
as my girl is waking up anytime from 1am and they are
now feeding at totally differrent times in the night,
so i usually dont get back to bed until 5, and then she
is awke 5.30 0r 6am. I know its contraversial, but
we've decided to go the CIO route with checks. I have
some questions for those who have done it:1) how many
days did it take?2) should we ditch the swaddle and
paci at the same time?3) should we sleep train in
separate rooms? and then reintroduce them to same room
once they are sleeping better?4) One twin sleeps for
longer already and doesn't wake up as often as the
other twin, should we sleep train them at separate
times (in same room, separate rooms?)5) should we sleep
train for naps at the same time?Thanks for any

CIO only took a couple of days for our boys. we did it
in the same room. One guy is a sound sleeper and the
other is a screamer. The sound sleeper has only woken
up a few times from his brother (FWIW) in the course of
the past 14 months. At the time we did sleep training
(4.5 months), we did not realize he was a sound
sleeper. He was just able to self soothe and stay
asleep. Your one that sleeps longer could be like
mine.Our more high strung (willful) guy needed (and
still uses) a paci to sleep with. Both use lovies.
They had already gotten out of their swaddles by 4.5m.
Are their arms still in the swaddles? I would be
concerned about them rolling over and not able to get
back.So the most I let them scream was 40 min. I used
ear plugs. I can actually still hear them through but
it is moderated and does not make *me* cry. But it was
amazing, after about 20-40 min, I would look on the
monitor and he would be out. Each night it got better
until after about the 4th day, he would fuss for 5-10
min and then OUT!They slept from 6-6am with a 10pm
dream feed from 4.5-6.5 months and then the dream feed
was abandoned at 6.5 months. They are great (!)
sleepers at 18 months -- well the feisty one still has
he middle of the night moments but he usually gets back
into shape with minimal CIO now.

To be fair, as well, I had a night nanny until the boys
were about 4.5 mnths old who was also instrumental in
getting them on a schedule but she was a big CIO
advocate for me even though I was concerned the crying
of one would wake up the other.Dalia Arlaki

She said, "they will learn to sleep through one crying"
and even though I was skeptical, she was largely
correct! On the few occasions when one did wake the
other up and they were both crying, at that point, I
was like, "well, you guys figure it out!" and I closed
the door, popped in my ear plugs and, guess what,
within 5 minutes, SILENCE!Anyway, GOOD LUCK! Twins are
amazing. Mine really craved a schedule and a good
night's sleep and CIO worked for our family. (esp when
I went back to work). That said, I have read about
other kids who work themselves up so much that they
vomit, etc. I don't think I could have done CIO if
that had been my kid. Give it 5 days or so...

8. Help! Which car seats work with Baby Trend Double Snap 'n

Hi Everyone,We just had our twin boys last week, and
when we went to our first appointment with them, we
realized our car seats don't work with the double snap
'n go. For some reason, I just assumed that the double
snap 'n go works with all car seats. We have a Chicco
Key Fit 30 and a Maxi Cosi carseat. It appears that
the Maxi Cosi does not work at all with the snap n go -
is this correct? So we might need to get a new car
seat (which is fine b/c the Maxi Cosi was a hand me
down). At first I thought we should get another Chicco
Key Fit, but apparently from a youtube video, two Key
Fits do not fit in the double snap 'n go together. So,
I guess my main question is: which other car seat will
the Chicco KeyFit fit into the double snap n go with?
I really don't want to buy two new car seats, so I am
hoping our Chicco KeyFit will work with another brand.

Hey Adrienne!Congratulations on your baby boys!! I
can't wait to get together and meet them and hear all
about their birth, once you all feel up to it :o) I'm
34 weeks today.We got the Chicco KeyFit 30 (2 of them)
and they DO fit in the Baby Trend Double Snap n Go, BUT
it is a little difficult to get them in and out, and
they don't fit exactly as intended. They are perfectly
safe and secure, and both car seats are at an
appropriate angle. But the front car seat rests
slightly on the back car seat, rather than the bar as
intended. We did a mild steering/crash test (without
children inside!) in our living room, and I'm very
satisfied with the security.Good luck!Rebecca

I've used 2 chicco keyfit 30s with the double snap and
go for the past year. It's been a great solution.
Inexpensive narrow stroller for tooling around
airports, flat city streets, and shopping - with highly
rated safe car seats. Best, Jen

I am two years postpartum, and in the past 6 weeks I
have FINALLY started shedding those last 15 pounds of
baby weight that just wouldnt budge. I really do think
that my body is finally done with the pregnancy and
ready to move on. I havent started working out (other
than chasing the kids) or doing anythign different -
it really just feels like my body is doing this
naturally. Once i noticed that i had lost the first 5
pounds, it inspired me to really watch my food intake,
which of course has led to further weight loss. But a
year ago my dieting was not working at all, so there is
no logical reason why it would be working now. I am
chalking this up to hormones and mother nature deciding
to get things back to normal. I am posting this
becuase i have heard a thousand times that its "9
months up and 9 months down" - and that simply was not
the case for me. It might not be the case for you
either.... so dont resign yourself to being this new
weight forever - there is hope for shedding that baby
weight even 2 years post partum!!

I'm looking for a recommendation on a physical therapy
clinic for my son's feet and a place that does a good
job with orthotics. We tried UCSF and are very
disappointed.Also, looking for a recommendation for an
Occupational Therapist. CPMC won't take us and we have
been waiting on a phone call from Kids Space. Any other
place we should consider?

I had a terrible case of PUPPPs at the end of my
pregnancy, so I feel your pain. I tried a lot of home
remedies, but I think you are best off seeing a
dermatologist. Cool oatmeal baths, ice packs, and Sarna
cream were good for temporary relief, but the only
thing that helped it start to resolve was a steroid
shot. (I was quite late in my pregnancy at that
point--37+ weeks.) If it makes you feel better, it
cleared up almost instantly when I delivered. Good

I too got PUPPPs (after I delivered). They gave me a
lotion to apply; I think it might have been calamine
lotion but I don't recall. It was minty smelling and I
remember that it felt great and the itching went away
within a matter of days.

Thanks everyone!I spoke with the nurse at my obgyn's
office. She chatted with a doctor and they prescribed a
topical cream. I can't believe this will last until
delivery!! I'm starting 36 weeks, so technically it
will be any day now.

We banked our twins' cord blood "just in case." Yes,
it might be $500 a year down the tube, but we are
willing to take that chance, in case it could make a
life-or-death difference in the future.
