1. Moms who BF and supplement with formula

I have fraternal g/g twins, 5 months old. One is 3 lbs
heavier and definitely likes her bottles better than
the slow flowing breast. I have supplemented since
about month two, and am wondering the best way to divvy
up the good stuff. Currently, the littler one ends up
getting more bm because she loves to be on the boob.
Big girl BFs about once a day, and gets the 4-8 oz that
I pump at night. I'm going back to work next month, so
I guess it'll be easier to divide the ounces that I
bring home. I think largely I'm worrying about my
supply decreasing when I start work, and trying to keep
up the BFing on my days off. At five months I'm
starting to get back into my real life again, and don't
really want BFing to just fade away. When they were
first born I was BFing, pumping, constantly trying to
increase my milk. Alas, it just was never enough for
them both. I fear getting a bit lazy with it though,
so I guess I'm looking for a little support to keep
going!

I know this group is great for re-using high ticket
items, but in case you're in need of equipment and no
one is selling, this sale is a way to get a 25%
discount...if you have something to trade in.That's
where I come in. I have two used car seats that are
expired that you may have to use as your trade-in in
order to get your 25% off. The details of the trade-in
deal can be found through this link,

live at California and Arguello and will be around most
of the weekend so please email me if you're interested
in having one or both. I've been meaning to take these
to the store to safely recycle them, but my
procrastination can become your discount. You can email
me directly at Sharon@SFUsborneBooks.com

We are seeking someone with twin experience to help as
a Mother's Helper three days per week. Our identical
twin boys were born in late August. Any
recommendations from other parents are greatly
appreciated. If you have a spare second, please send
your recommendations to me at: jonesba28@gmail.com
Thank you for helping us.

I suggest that you and your husband agree about the
expectations/draw up a list and then meet with the
nanny and share your expectations/give direction. Tell
her that you will give her one week to work things
out/comply with your requests. If she doesn''t, let
her go and find someone else. You'll be so much
happier in the end. I know from experience!!!

My first nanny I fired after 4 months because I just
didn't trust her with the kids, which is a big deal.
It sounds like you both have some concerns that might
involve trust so you do need to agree on priorities but
you also want someone you are comfortable with. She
was a nightmare and complained too much about an
amazing job (we provided medical & dental insurance for
her). When I caught her lying about silly stuff it was
enough. On my 2nd hire I spend a weekend day at home
with the nanny and my husband and spent time getting to
know her as a person. You can pick up a lot just by
hanging out with them. She was warm and great with
kids, an older woman with 20+ years of twin experience.
Keep in mind, no one will be 100% perfect (even our
spouses aren't 100%). Our nanny is like family to me
and that is what you want, we used to invite her and
her husband to join us for a family dinner weekly which
brought all of us closer. Also I find calling references
personally vs. email you can catch tones in their
voices about the referral that may make you concerned,
it's hard to give a reference for someone you didn't
like. People will be honest most of the time about
flaws if you ask.I hope this helps.Tava

I have two mother's helpers for evenings and the
occasional weekend afternoon. College students with
babysitting experience. One charges $11 an hour, the
other $12. We're in the process of transitioning one to
babysitting since she would like to make more money.
Sometimes we pay her a higher babysitting rate ($15 an
hour) if we are home but in a completely different part
of the house not interacting with the babies at all. I
think mother's helpers are a great solution for help
with bedtime, watching babies so you can eat your own
dinner, and most importantly being home with one parent
so the other can have an evening off! I would just
recommend getting a couple so you have backup in case
one forgets to tell you about her new class schedule
for the semester until the week before it starts or
decides to move to Oakland because it's cheaper or
other college student type things that can have a huge
impact on you. Also, I had the best luck finding
someone on our Nextdoor neighborhood group, not on any
of the parent listservs. I also used the job board at
SFState and directed it toward child development
majors. A great resource except it's across town from
where we live. Good luck!
