Hi Charlotte,I just went through the process of finding
a helper/nanny. I'm stay-at-home, so I just wanted an
extra set of hands (not necessarily a full-scale,
super-experienced twins nanny). I had great luck on
care.com. There was a fee (I think $30 per month for
access to the site, but I'm going to cancel now, since
I found somebody), but I got maybe 20 responses to my
ad. I included the rate I'm willing to pay ($13-15 per
hour...I'm on a budget given I'm stay at home), so I'm
sure that some of the super experienced nannies didn't
even respond because of that (fine with me). Most
responses were by students (I liked those that were
taking some sort of child development classes -
indicated interest beyond just a part-time job while in
college), and I did like all of my candidates. So
although it's a big time commitment to go through
interviews, I found that in a week, I met enough
candidates to make a good decision. I ended up with a
student at $14 per hour, and after her first day, am
quite happy with her. If you want to email me
separately, I'd be happy to email you 4-5 contact whom
I liked (off of this forum). My email is
luciab@gmail.com.My criteria were:- $13-15 per hour-
Fluent in English (since I would be with them all the
time, and I didn't want communication difficulties)-
Bubbly, up-beat, positive attitude.- Willing to do some
light housework during naps- I didn't need them to have
a car, or be available specific times
