Hello,My name is Laura Wehrley and I'm looking for a
daytime nanny to help us for at least a couple of
months with our one month old twin boys. We'd like the
person to start mid November from 10am to 5pm Monday
through Friday. I'm feeding them every 3 hours so
basically need help with the feedings, bottle/pump part
cleaning, etc. We live in North Beach. Any suggestions?

I am using Dr. Brown's natural flow (level 1 nipple)
for my twins who are 3 weeks adjusted age. We are using
breastmilk, but breastfeeding has been a real struggle
so just bottle-feeding.They are super gassy in general
and we have to burp them a lot during feeds. Almost
every late afternoon/ evening, their tummies swell up
with gas and feel hard. Even when they burp they do not
get relief and we end up with two screaming babies for
a few hours. Gripe water, gas drops, probiotics,
nothing seems to help. :(Any other recs for gas
reducing bottles besides Dr. Browns? Any suggestions
are appreciated!Thank you!

hi,i swore by the tommee tippee anti-colic bottles.
they act like mom's breast - wide nipple, and the
anti-colic ones don't drip. we tried the normal tommee
tippee bottles and they were a disaster until the girls
were 10-12 months and could handle the drip/air, etc.
but the anti-colic bottles require sucking, so the
babies don't get any air or milk dripping down their
throats that they can't keep up with. what about
modifying your diet to remove the most frequent
allergens one by one...dairy, gluten, etc. for a week
or two at time and see if that helps at all?even though
you've tried this, i still recommend keeping up with
the probiotics - it can't hurt, can only help (i
believe). either by adding some adult version to your
diet so they get into your breastmilk, or add some baby
powder to the bottles. i added it (still do at 15
months) to the bottles. i'm sure you know this
already, but you can get infant probiotics at
wholefoods or rainbow grocery in the refrigerated

My boy/girl twins are 7 weeks old and my question is
about keeping the babies together on their feeding. We
aren't on a strict 3 hour schedule anymore --we're
letting the babies awake and tell us when their hungry
(per our Ped advice). Our son usually awakes first and
is clearly hungry, so we awaken our daughter who is
usually fast asleep and try to get her to eat. Whereas
our son will drink everything our daughter falls asleep
after half of her meal and it's impossible to get her
to drink any more. Then she wakes up on her own 30
minutes later and is hungry.What do I do? Do I give
her the rest of her bottle, or do I awaken our son and
force feed him a bit? I don't want to stagger them
because I'll be feeding them all the time, but I'm
really at a loss her and would love some

I wonder if you could find some mid-ground. Can you
stall him for 15 minutes and let her sleep an extra 15
minutes? Maybe then she would be hungrier and would get
a bit more sleep. Dunno if this is helpful... might be
worth a try.

My twins are 3.5 months old and I would like to sleep
train them as soon as I am allowed to. They are doing
ok at night - 6:30 bed, 11 pm dream feed, 3 am wake and
bottle, 6:15 wake and bottle. We used the Sleep Easy
Solution for my first daughter an it worked well. We
are fine with CIO. I imagine there might be some
additional difficulties sleep training twins, but I'm
not sure how a consultation and a plan will make it
better. What type of plan does she provide? Is it
something novel or just common sense?

My one twin is the same way. She gets so distracted
when eating, pushes tongue out after first burp. It
seems during the day when I talk to her a lot during
feedings she responds by allowing nipple in mouth and
eventually eats. Also chin support and I kind of let
her push it out don't force her to take the nipple, but
then catch her when she calms down and re introduce it.
Seems to help. I feel you though! Hoping this is a
phase. We use Dr. Brown bottles BTW and when we tried
Tommee Tippee she did the same thing. Even when I was
breastfeeding her in the beginning she did this. It's
gotten better though.

Keep an eye on her to make sure it is a bottle
rejection (or boredom) and not a milk issue. Our girl
would behave similarly, but it got worse with time (she
would cry and cry and push away). After going through
two different acid reflux treatments, everything got
instantly sorted when we switched to a hypoallergenic
formula. Hopefully not your case, but keep an eye on
it.

Thanks EstherRN. She has been on Prevacid but stopped
after a couple months. She does still seem like se has
reflux, but not quite as bad as wen she was little. The
bottle thing is getting worse though. She has been on a
low lactose formula (good start soothe) since about
week two. Wen I described her behavior to our doc she
thought it was behavioral and not milk related, but I'm
not sure. Sometimes I think one, sometimes the other.
Driving me crazy though. 45 minutes of screaming while
feeding this am.

So sorry - I hear you. Our fussy guy used to do the
same, off and on - it is *no* fun. Ours seemed to be
behavioral as well - maybe try giving a chilled
teething ring or something first (or midway through) to
distract and just to make sure that it's not early
teething pain (which can be made worse by sucking on
the bottle)? We got through with the warmer bottles I
mentioned + rocking/jiggling while feeding but it was
not a foolproof solution to be sure. I'd try the
suggestion of TwinMomOnTwinPeeks for faster flow
nipples too - just incase that helps. At five months,
mine got over it (though maybe it was the faster
nipples as we switched to six month nipples early).
