My husband and I are taking our 7 week olds on a flight
to Michigan tomorrow and I am wondering what the
easiest way to do it is - We were thinking of checking
our car seats with our suitcases and using the bjorns
as we walk through the airport. Is this the best way to
go? We have the car seat covers but do they make it
okay with the luggage? Thanks for the help.

That's what I would do. With 7 week'ers you don't need
car seats and strollers just for the trip from curb to
airplane. Know, however, that car seats get bounced
and banged around A LOT when checked, which is akin to
them being in a car accident. The first time we flew
with twins they were 14mos old and we took car seats
and double snap & go and checked them at the gate so
they'd be jostled less. That said, it's an
extraordinary amount of "stuff" to lug through
security. Also, best advice we've ever received on
twin travel is that one parent takes their shoes off
and carries both babies through security while the
other parent loads all the stuff on the belt and
receives it on the other end. We've done this every
time and it's by far the most efficient way to do it.
Safe travels!

Ditto Holly, though I sometimes bring at least one
carseat to the gate as it's awesome when the flight is
not full and the flight attendants will let you place
the carseat in an empty seat beside you. (That's also a
bonus as it means you and hubby can sit next to one
another - otherwise with two lap infants you'll be
separated by the aisle or a row as there are only four
oxygen masks per bank - so only one lap infant allowed
on each side of the row - make sure your seats are set
up this way in advance). Also, I'm sure you've heard
this, but definitely try feeding them or giving pacis
at takeoff/landing unless they are *sound* asleep.
Seems to help the ears (theirs and those of fellow
passengers :) ). Have fun!

at 12 weeks we traveled across country and brought the
carseats and double snap 'n go through security, and
gate checked all three. the primary advantage was
if/when there is a flight delay (then you have the gear
to take turns with the kids, rather than HAVING to each
hold one). and they get much less banged up at gate
check then via bag check. if you gate check, you might
want to bring trash bags or laundry bags (we bought
childress bags online, but since you're flying
tomorrow...) to the gate with you to put them in, so
the fabric doesn't tear on the carseats.otherwise, we
wore the girls on front in the ergos with infant
inserts and they were very content; slept most of the
flight. great previous recommendation to feed at
takeoff and landing - it's really important for their
ears. or sterilize your pinky and put it upside down
in their mouth so you can feel them sucking/wiggle it
to keep them sucking through takeoff and landing. hope
you have a good trip!best, jen

*gets* :)also, just wanted to say, bring some
lightweight blankets to keep the kids covered,
particularly if you're going to use the carseats. do
you have the aden+anais muslin square swaddle blankets?
they're big, perfect for draping over the carseats to
keep the kids covered. ...anything to avoid having
random people in the airport walking up and breathing
all over your little ones. people won't bug you as
much when you're wearing them facing you, but when
they're in their carseats...oy. have a great trip!
it'll be great! the first flight in a long, beautiful
lifetime of travel! :)

Hi all - We are celebrating our b/g twins' first
birthday next month in our home in SF and we were
looking for any recs for a balloon artist or face
painter or any sort of entertainer. We're expecting
about 10 kids ranging from 2 years old to about 8 years
old. The only reasonably priced one we could find
through a Yelp search was Magic Minis. Thanks in
advance!- Moneeka
