1. Baby stomping only right foot for a week, will not stomp
left. Is this weird?

Ok moms, this is another "tell me not to worry about my
baby" question. My littler 5 mo twin has been working
on stomping his left foot for over a week now. All he
wants to do is "stand up"-- holding your hands-- and
stomp his left foot. He's actually even kicking his
left foot right now during tummy time, right foot is
stationary. It's super cute-- it looks like he's
dancing-- and he laughs while he's stomping. However,
if you encourage him to put his weight on his left foot
he cannot lift his right foot, he just falls over. Have
any of you ever observed your babies doing this kind
of,repetitive motion for so long? I think I'm just
worrying because as my twins are getting older they are
getting more and more different, and I'm feeling hyper
aware of the ways in which he's different from his
super physical brother after a week of observing them
up close while on vacation. My little guy is
definitely physically less able even though he's met
all his milestones so far (maybe he rolled over a
little late at 5.5 months). So is this normal? And how
can I stop obsessing about how my twins are so
different that one of them must be abnormal?

3. 4 month sleep regression coming early?
--------------------------------------------------------
rebeccaadaly - 12/30/2012 1:13 pm
Whoa. I got an early Christmas present and it was a 4
month sleep regression from my 3 month old (14 weeks).
He literally went from going down drowsy and falling
asleep about half the time to screaming bloody murder
for 5-20 minutes before sleeping, while being held, and
then we absolutely cannot put him down, or we start all
over. This coincides with a brief vacation trip, visits
from family, and teething (yikes), but it's been 10
days of crazy now. Probably didn't help that my mom,
who offered to take on night duty so we could rest,
ended up holding him half the night, even though I
expressly asked her not to. Hard to argue with someone
who voluntarily stays awake so you can get 4
consecutive hours of sleep.Anyway. Do I continue to try
and soothe, put down drowsy, pick up when screamng,
repeat indefinitely until asleep? For every nap and
bedtime? Just hold him until he doesnt seem to need it
any more? Run away and join the circus? Thoughts?
Ideas? Help?!

You know, one of my twins seems to NEED to cry for 15
min before he can fall asleep. We'll hold him until
drowsy (or even asleep), but him down, and he'll start
to cry. We can pick him up one, two, three more times,
rock him until he's drowsy/asleep, and he'll start to
cry within 30 seconds of going down. However, once he's
cried for 15 min, he goes right to sleep. It's almost
as if he has all this extra energy that needs to be
expended before he can get tired. I think your guys are
a little young for CIO, but if he's crying while you're
holding him you might try and put him down for a few
minutes and see how it goes. Leave your hand on his
chest and shake him a little if you think it will help.
You can always pick him up again if he gets frantic.

6. Contractor recs for small job? Replacing stair treads and
baluster
--------------------------------------------------------
jeccat - 12/30/2012 11:34 am
Hi moms-- we have non-code railing on our stairs and on
the landing, and the opening is wide enough for one of
our babies to fall through! Given that we are
approaching crawling time, I wanted to get the baluster
replaced and thought we might as well replace the nasty
carpeted stair treads while we're at it. Any
recommendations for the job? Thanks!
