1. Convertible carseats for twins...in a station wagon

The last post I could find on this on this was 8 months
ago with no responses, so hoping this is not a
repeat.Just back from our nine-month Dr visit and, as
suspected, my boys have outgrown their Graco Snugrides
in length (certainly not in weight!). I apparently
have long skinny babies. So, looking for convertible
carseats that will fit well two across - I have an Audi
station wagon that does not leave us a ton of space
even with the infant seats.I don't much care about the
carseat turning into a booster, but definitely want one
seat that does front and rear facing.Any suggestions?
Safety is obviously my first priority, but ideally also
looking for something that is not a huge pain to remove
as I use the car to commute most of the time and often
carry other passengers. Comfort would also be nice - my
kids *hated* their Graco Snugride 30s. I think they
were just never really comfortable in them (which was
not that bad as we honestly didn't drive much with them
in the car, but now we're contemplating fairly regular
driving trips as flying becomes more difficult with
their increased mobility :) ).Many thanks,Sarah

Hi - Does anyone have any recs for good (and
lightweight and easy to collapse) single strollers for
Muni? We have a heavy duty City Select double that
works geat but is impractical to lug on to the Muni.
We'd like to start taking the kids (1 years old) on
Muni for short errands rather than driving
everywhere.Thanks!

I've heard good things about the City Mini Double. I
read on an old forum post that Bed Bath and Beyond
sells them and you can use their 20% off coupon. HTH.

Hello, We are starting to think about potty training
in the next few months. Our twins just turned two - we
talk about it quite a bit, but I dont think they are
totally ready. Anyways, wanted to reach out and see if
anyone had any pointers/tips that could share before we
embark on this phase. And then also, am curious when
you had your twins switch to beds and if anything
changed with naps and or night routines. Thanks.

This may be a stupid question but can't you just pay
her insurance directly? Can't you treat it not as
income but as a business expense or benefit?

Ours has about 6 years twin nanny experience. We write
the health care check separately each month for our
nanny so it is not part of the taxes we pay--it is
about the same as yours above. We pay $22/hr OTT + 1.5x
for 5-15 hours of OT each week which is also paid
OTT--I think her blended rate ends up pretty close to
$24/hr OTT. She does not clean or really even cook for
our twins (except toast and microwaving stuff). Plus
we pay a sizable (3 weeks pay) for holiday bonus each
year and we give 3 weeks paid vacation.

Should have mentioned that our $24/hour is also a
blended rate of regular + 8 hours overtime (all paid
through a payroll service). We also give 11 holidays +
2 weeks paid vacation a year - which ends up being more
than that as we also pay her when we are on vacation
(one of her weeks has to coincide with one of our
vacations so we only have to find a backfill for one
week). We pay her full weekly rate even when she does
not work the OT hours so she can count on a constant
paycheck - we just add more if she goes over the
regular 48 hours. One week holiday bonus (1/2 this
year as she'd only been with us 5 months). She has
healthcare through her husband's employer.

We were lucky that ours would drink cold bottles -
breast milk and formula. So we would premake bottles
for a twelve hour period and just give them straight
from the fridge. They breastfed fine until 8 mos as
well. And we eventually just used tap water for the
formula. I think at first we were using bottled water.
But a friend whose baby was 100% formula fed said tap
water was fine and her kid turned out ok so we went for
it! But if they won't drink cold or room temp bottles,
as someone said they will soon be on a predictable
schedule so you will be able to anticipate when to
start warming. Good luck and congratulations!

Just a side note about formula-at 4 months we started
using Dr Browns mixing pitcher to make big batches. We
thought it was a gimmick but it was actually really
helpful preventing lumps and bubbles.
