One of my twins has the wet/mucous-y cough. Went to the
Ped today and she said everything looks good
(breathing, ears, nose, rib cage movement, no fever,
good appetite, etc) except there is just a bunch of
mucous in her throat/mouth hence the saliva bubbles she
started. It could be the early stages of a cold but
told me to ride it out and look for change in behavior
and other symptoms. Anyone have any home remedies or
ideas you can share?I currently BF and top-off with
formula. Already soaking garlic for mixing with the
formula and infusing in EVOO for the ears with the
suggestion of a twin mama.

We had good luck with probiotics. Guess I can't say
for sure they spared us from flu/colds in the early
weeks, but I think they helped.

short on space so they are nice and compact. You could

Hi,Our twins are 4 and we are considering a short (4
day?) trip to San Diego this spring to (a) go to Sea
World, (b) go to Lego Land, and (c) hit the beach.It's
been years since we were in San Diego, and we need
advice on (a) the trip in general - is 4 days long
enough? are Sea World and Lego Land age appropriate?
should we wait until they are older? and (b) if we go -
where should we stay?Would love any tips/

your kids will LOVE LOVE LOVE Legoland! If you can,
especially go to the waterpark if it's not too cold.
The second time around our kids just really wanted the
waterpark. The pools are warm and shallow with small
slides. The park itself has small rides and carnival
games. You can do the park in one day since it's
relatively small.My daughter liked Sea World and loved
seeing the shows. My son did not want to see the shows
(the main reason for Sea World). We probably won't go
to Sea World again unless my son is willing to see the
shows! They're 6.5 now.We stayed in a hotel near Sea
World called California Suites Hotel. We probably would
NOT stay there again. The area isn't the best, so I'd
stay clear of 5415 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. My best
experiences have been with the big chain Best Western,
so I'd look for that if we go again. :) Our trip 2
years ago was for 4 days. One day travel going, one day
Legoland, one day Sea World, one day travel back.
Perfect timing.HAVE A GREAT TIME!! One tip. Some of
those Lego $4-$5 minisets have coupons on the back of
the package to buy one adult and get one kid free at

Hi Betsy, I agree with Susan that you need a day's
travel time for both going and returning from San Diego
if you are driving and you definitely need a car in SD.
We make the trip 3 or 4 times a year now that our son
is in UCSD. We have a place in South Mission Beach
which is steps to the beach or bay and I recommend the
area for staying. My sons loved both Legoland and Sea
World when they were younger but with only 4 days you
might want to visit just one of them. Our place (fully
furnished 2 bedrooms and 2 baths) is available in April
and May and is very reasonably priced. If you should
like more information on our place or the area, please

8. Car dilemma - 3 kiddos

Hi All - I'm new to the club, looking forward to great
twin advice. I have a 2 1/2 yo singleton and twins due
in May and we're starting to nest. Right now we're
having a big car dilemma. We have a 2010 mint condition
Honda CRV which we love and planned to run to the
ground. But like a lot of things in life, twins change
the plans. I'm getting mixed opinions on whether we
can fit all 3 kiddos in the back of the CRV or if we
need a new car. We really don't want a full-sized
minivan, but are considering the Mazda 5 (with a Thule
on top for storage). So my question is:- has anyone fit
3 car seats in the back of a CRV (or similar) vehicle?-
opinions on the Mazda 5?- other non-Sienna / Odyssey
vehicles we should look at?Thanks in advance for the

We have a Toyota Sienna minivan and 6 year old twins
with Graco Nautilus 5 point harness carseats. From our
recent experience on a fieldtrip, there would be no way
for us to fit 3 big carseats like the Nautilus in the
back row. 3 boosters fit just fine though. I'm just
wondering if a CRV is bigger in the back than a
minivan? I'm guessing not? However, 3 big carseats
WOULD fit in our second row since they are individual
seats, and not a bench-type seat. But then again, the
first carseats you get are smaller, so you might be ok
for the first year until you switch to the bigger ones?

Hi, we had an Escape when our twins were born. They are
now 3, and we also have a 7-year old. When the twins
were in rear-facing car seats, we could fit them in the
back seat, with a booster in the middle. It was very
annoying. The older one would have to get in first, and
I would have to loosen the base of one car seat in
order to buckle the seat belt...not to mention when he
had to go to the bathroom and the babies were asleep in
their seats...We now have a Mazda 5 and I never thought
I could love a car so much :) I just wish the engine
were a bit more fierce.

before Christmas and loved it. Susanne is great -
obviously loves what she does and is a lot of fun.usual
price is $350/1 child. She is of offering $630/twins
$900/triplets. Mention PROMO code TWINS or TRIPLETS
when booking and that you are a member of SFPOM. Our
target is to get LOTS more discounts from shops, play
centers, camps etc across the city for the club. Its a
big job for one person to do - but totally do-able if
we all do it together! Just one discount each and we'd
have hundreds of discounts saving us all $$$! We'll be
posting/ emailing out a template soon for everyone to
use when you're talking to people. I have found people
very receptive to the idea on the whole, they just
hadn't thought about it before. If anyone needs
discounts it is us parents of multiples so it would be
great to tackle this together!

13. Protocol for Hiring a Night Nanny - Background Check,
Contract, Etc

I'm due in May and we've just interviewed a night
nanny. We're ready to commit to her, but then I started
wondering what formalities would be a good idea. I
asked her if she typically does a contract with the
families and she said sometimes, but it's up to us. She
seemed happy to do it if we wanted, but I realize that
a simple contract between 2 parties maybe be difficult
to enforce anyway so not sure it's worth the trouble.
When I discussed with my husband, he seemed more
concerned about getting a background check. I've spoken
to one of her references, with messages out to 2 of the
others, but read their glowing references for her on
this site.So my questions are - what's normal? Is a
contract necessary for a night nanny? If so, what
should be included? Do you let her know you want to do
a background check before proceeding? Or is there other
info that they can provide that will offer similar
peace of mind? Any recommended sites for conducting a
background check? Any other info on this topic would be
greatly appreciated.Thank you

ride roller coasters. Does anyone have any advice re:
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom vs. Great America? Is one
better for this than the other? I'm totally clueless

Hi Marcy,There's kiddie rides at both but maybe at 7,
you're ready to move on fromthat. Great America has a
kid area and a water area inside the park. Theyhave
characters from TV like Sponge Bob. It's a nice park
and plenty todo. Check height restrictions for their
big rides. Six Flags is alsogreat. There's two areas
for kiddie rides but I'm wondering if at 7they're
beyond that. There's a lot of big roller coasters at
Six flags. Again check the height restrictions online.
If roller coasters is whatyou are going for I'd say Six
Flags. They have Bugs Bunny characters andhis friends
at Six Flags. We had season passes for Six Flags last
year andit was well worth it.How are you and your
