Dr. Heidi Moore is in Laurel Heights & is a mom of B/G
twins. Her office has a parking lot which makes things
easier:)

Our twins are only 6 weeks but so far we really like Dr
Getzelman (getzwell pediatrics). She spends 45 minutes
with each twins and has an integrated approach.
Everyone in her office is great - she's on church at
29th. Only downside is they do not accept insurance -
they provide superbills though so we are able to submit
our claims to our insurance directly.

I wrote a glowing recommendation of my family doctor in
the middle of the night while pumping milk in the dark,
look like I somehow failed to post it! I have nothing
but good things to say about Avril Swan. I've loved her
as my doctor, I love her even more as my twins' doctor.
She is out of network which means my copay is twice as
high, but it's well worth it for her knowledge and
attention and caring. She responds to emails often
within the hour, she even gave me her cell phone number
when my daughters were born in case I had an emergency
(she asked me to please delete and forget the number
when they were two weeks old). Her first appointment
when you get home from the hospital is a home visit,
which is kind of essential when you've got two tiny
babies and are recovering from abdominal surgery! She
came to our house rather than sending another doctor
from her practice even though she was technically on
Christmas holiday when they were born, because she is
so enamored with twins. She's very holistic. She's
interested not just in keeping you from getting the
flu, but also in your overall well-being and she knows
her way around many of the natural and alternative
options available in this city. In any case, you should
consider a family doctor who can get to know all of
you. I think it's a wonderful way to go. Julia

Hi, Bridget, congratulations on your pregnancy! What
kind of help you will need depends to some extent on
what your priorities are. Do you intend to breast feed,
are you comfortable supplementing with formula from the
start (you may not have an option but it's good to
think about what you're going to try for). And what
parts of your life do you need to hold on to in order
to maintain your own sanity when your twins are
demanding large amounts of time and energy?A night
nanny is a wonderful thing, especially if you're bottle
feeding. But if you're bottle feeding with breast milk
you'll still be waking in the middle of the night to
pump, so try to make your nights extra long to make up
for sleeping in fits and starts.I would recommend
putting some thought into your priorities (though be
prepared to pare it down to "we're all alive at the end
of the day" if need be) then show up to a new and
expectant parent support group an ask folks advice on
how to achieve what you're looking to do. This group is
a fantastic resource, you've already started out on the
right foot by reaching out for help. I hope to see you
at a meeting soon! (If I can make it out of the house
with my daughters!)Julia
