How do you heat up solid food for the babies? We puree
and freeze vegetables/fruits for the week. How do you
re-heat? Our nanny uses the microwave and I have tried
to use a hot water bath to heat it up, but it takes
longer.I wanted to get an idea of how others do it and
reasons.Thanks!

First we defrost them in the fridge in the morning (or
you could do it before you go to bed) then we use a hot
water bath. It didn't take that long to get reasonably
warm that way.

Oh I didn't think about refrigerating first, thanks! Do
you think it retains nutrients if you refrigerate?

Hello, does anyone have a child with ADHD and do you
have a therapist that you can recommend that will work
with the child and help them with focusing in the class
room???

One thing that really helped during our public school
application process was attending a PPSSF (Parents of
Public Schools of SF) meeting. I paid $10 as part of a
small group in my preschool to attend the meeting. My
husband then attended a similar, free meeting to hear
the same information on a different date so that we
both could understand the process. The meetings are
free to the community and held in different public
schools and libraries. They do run out of room closer
to the deadline. The bonus of going to the meeting at
our former preschool was that we could ask a lot more
questions in a smaller group. The best information that
I got from that meeting was on how to think about
filling out the application and to hear about the idea
of swapping (there is a whole algorithm proposed for
this but SFUSD does not share if this is the one used).
It may be a worthwhile to have a PPSSF person come for
one meeting and to hold a private school meeting
separately as the processes are probably very different
(we did not apply to any independents or
parochials).HelenAnnika and Sofie (8/07)

We went to Kids' Cuts on 29th St at San Jose. Not sure
where you live but if you are not in the southern part
of the city, there are probably other places closer to
you. You could always try Supercuts. That is what we
do now. We started going there when our twins were 3
or 4.

Hi, I can't answer all your questions from personal
experience but some of my experience has been similar
so I thought I would try.1) getting ready in the
mornings: like you, my spouse worked early hours when
my twins were your twins' age and so I was the only one
around in the mornings. If you are already dealing
with this now, then you know what is involved. It
always takes longer than you think and when 1 or both
children are fussy, moody, etc., then it adds to the
stress. I just tried to allow extra time and to have
myself fully ready before they woke up.2) the long car
ride: because of the time it took to get us out of the
house at age 2.5, I often had to do breakfast on the
go...typically bagels and fruit smoothies. This way I
knew there getting a balanced meal but it was portable.
My car ride was only 10-15 minutes, and sometimes they
weren't finished with breakfast. So I would think your
longer car ride would actually afford that opportunity
for you.3) developmentally chaning anytime soon: I
found as my twins got older, it did get easier. I
thought early age 3 was harder than the 2's but it did
not really change the mornings that much. It was
really the end of the day when they were tired and
might melt at dinner hour. So, for the short term, it
will still be the same, but it will only get easier
with them being able to get themselves dressed (albeit
with a lot of prompting.)4) carsick and crazy in the
car: this one I can't comment from personal
experience, but I don't think it would be that bad.
from the time they start eating to the time they
finish, it will probably be already 20 minutes into the
ride. then you can have a routine of listening to
music that they like or talking, or looking for fun
things on the way there.Good luck with your decision!

I cannot see it, using Internet Explorer on PC and
using AT&T wireless card. I can try from my Mac at
some point and report back, too.

Thank you!!! It looks like this problem is limited to
AT&T users. Hopefully that bit of information will help
our host to figure out what's wrong in their protocol.

Karen,Interesting that you heard that most private
schools have 1 class per grade. We looked at 9 private
schools (all co-ed) and all of them but 1 had 2 classes
per grade. Live Oak only has 1 class per grade.
(Their 5th grade actually has 2 classes because they
accepted more children than planned, but that is not
the norm.) They are considering expanding and having 2
classes per grade but it is just at the initial board
level discussions. For us, it was an important factor as
we wanted that option to have our twins in different
classes, but we were also not adamant about doing so.
Our twins are boy/girl and have been in the same
preschool class for 2.5 years, which we have loved and
would certainly do again. Our preschool has mixed ages
in each class and they usually put all siblings
(non-twins or twins) in the same class. That said, we
did apply to Live Oak, knowing that we might not have
that option but ultimately we got waitlisted so it's a
non-issue and I admit I was glad we didn't have to
think about it.We are going to think about what we want
for kindergarten and talk to our school about what to
do and make a decision as we near the fall when our
twins will start kindergarten.Lastly, no, I don't know
anything about the public Montessori school in SFUSD.
I have heard that the leadership has changed there a
few times but that is all I know.

Stratford has 2 classes in most grades. We do not have
a strong opinion about splitting, but the school
recommends separating twins. We keep them together for
preschool and pre-K even though there are two classes
and we were asked if we'd like to separate them now.
