Hi - We're moving to the Sacramento area (specifically
to Orangevale) this summer, and I was wondering if
anyone knew of a good twins group out there?

I am almost in the exact same boat! Twins born April
3rd. My milk started coming in before we left the
hospital, but due to an emergency surgery and overnight
hospital stay away from them a week later, evertyhing
got off track. I am currently saving BM for complete
feeds, which means we have 1-2 formula-only feeds per
day. We try to plan those strategically, as formula
takes longer to digest, so it's helpful to do those
when you need a longer "fuse" between feedings (ex:
overnight, or just before an outing to the doctor,
etc).I was unable to tandem feed up until a few days
ago because the second surgery was still healing.
However, now that I can get the Brest Friend pillow on
me, it's also been a time-saver! The most notable
thing about the tandem feeds is I noticed my pumped
production jumped about 30% after both babies have
spent quality time on the breast. My baby girl still
fights the boob something awful, but I've found using
the widest bottle possible helps keep her latch from
deteriorating between feeds. For her, we started using
the Comotomo bottles, and they are great. We also have
to start her on the bottle for about 5 minutes before
trying the boob, or she also gets frustrated and pushes
it away . Her brother still uses doctor Brown's and
latches like a champ no matter what. As for pumping,
I've found using a warm compress across the top of my
chest (I use a reheatable rice sack thingy) really
helps with the letdown and volume. I do still feel
like a 24/7 dairy cow, but giving over to the formula
at least 1-2 times a day provides a nice respite,
despite the guilt that comes with it. Just do the best
that you can. Plenty of babies have thrived on nothing
but formula, so you have at least a head start with the
breast milk you've provided so far.
