Our twins are approaching 8 month sand outgrowing their
snugride 22 seats. Any advice for convertible seats? We
don't have a ton of space in our backseats so looking
for something slim and not too bulky without
sacrificing safety. Based on my research, it's hard to
find a slim seat (not bulky) that is ranked high in
safety. Not sure if anyone has come across anything.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

We bought Diono Radian RXTs off Amazon (with Prime, to

ditto noursej, we also bought the diono radian RXTs off
Amazon, we have only had them for a day now, but they
seem to be solid, slim and comfortable.

Thank you noursej & karu_garg. I believe my husband and
I saw this at Right Start in the city. just want to
confirm, we have to have the kiddos rear facing until 2
and then forward facing? Is it ok to put one behind
passenger seat and one in the middle in the back? My
husband is taller than me and looking for some more leg
room when he drives. :)Emil

I tried out the Foonf and the Diono Radians in our car.
We have major challenges with a tall hubby and a
small-ish wagon (Audi A4 Avant). The Foonf sit
*really* high and are uber expensive (though man, they
look nice...). Ended up with the Dionos and we are OK
thus far. Rear facing they are definitely a challenge
to install (we don't take them out often though) and
they are tall, so we had to get the foam angle
adjusters to enable my husband to still drive without
the steering wheel in his groin. That said, they were
the best we found (thanks to this forum).

bhavna12 - 4/29/2013 12:50 pm
Hi all:Our twins (boy and girl) are almost 8 months and
we have been very fortunate for the past 4.5 months
they have been sleeping through the night. We put them
both down at 7 and they sleep until 630am with no
feeding during the night. This past Friday night, our
boy woke up at 330am and we let him just stay in the
crib and hang out there. He was wide awake based on
what we could see on the baby monitor but we didn't go
in. he eventually fell asleep again at 445 and woke up
at 615. He did the same on Saturday night. Last night
was rough, he woke up at 330am and didn't fall asleep
until 515am. He was wide awake, moving around and
making quite a bit of noise. His sister was great
(cribs next to each other) and she didn't wake up. He
eventually fell asleep after my husband picked him up
and I then took him and he fell asleep in my lap for 35
minutes and woke again at 550am and he was up again.
Not sure what to do here, any advice? Is this common? I
believe I read somewhere in previous posts that twins
change around this time so it's common for them to get
up. Do we continue to let him be and not go in, just
monitor from camera? I don't think we should feed him,
don't think he's hungry. He has 7.5-8oz as his last
feed and that's been more than enough for him the past
few months. Are the good times over for our sleep or is
this just a phase? Lets hope the latter. Thanks POM
members, your advice/recs are greatly appreciated.

Our boy/girl twins are 7 mos. and sleeping through the
night after many painful cry it out nights. My
suggestion would be to let him be (thankfully, he's not
waking up his sister). He doesn't seem super upset or
anything and he's gotten himself back to sleep in the
past. If you keep taking him out he may start to get
used to that and then expect it, and then it would be
confusing for him if you stopped. He definitely doesn't
need to be fed. If you let him be, he'll soon figure
out that no one will be coming for him and it's the
middle of the night so might as well go back to sleep.
Good luck!

Thanks Robyn! It helps getting some validation that we
are on the right track. I agree about the feeding as
well, I don't want to take a step back and introduce a
night feed. I will see how he does tonight and
hopefully it's not as bad as last night. I will not
take him out this time. How long do I let him stay in
there? As long as it takes even if it goes to 1+ hour.
He isn't crying but just whines and stops, making noise
basically. His sister is great, don't know how she does
it but she does need more sleep than him from the
beginning.

Exactly as Robyn said. I would not go in. Imagine if
you didn't have the monitor, would you even know they
were awake? Mine are 7 months old and I'm pretty sure
they get up in the middle of the night on occassion.
Sometimes they cry, sometimes they just talk, I just
let them be. We live in a loft so I can hear them
downstairs pretty well even though we don't have a
monitor. The only time I've bothered to check on them
is to see if one of them had a poop and needs to be
changed (I will go in and change them but then put them
right back in the crib and leave the room) or if one of
them has a foot stuck between the crib slats. I'd fix
that then leave the room right away. They always
eventually calm down and go to sleep.

I find that three or four nights is usually the magic
number. If I can survive whatever "phase" they are in
for that long, it usually passes (regrettably, that
often means the other one is about to start it!). I'm
with the other posters. Let him be and try to ride it
out. If it helps him fall asleep, you can always pat
his back or rub his head but don't pick him up or take
him out of the room. Two other thoughts: (1) make
sure there is not a noise waking him up (neighbor
leaving for work, etc.) and, if there is, maybe try a
white noise machine (or app on an iPad) (2) is it
possible he's getting too cold or too hot? Right
around that time is when mine wake up if they are
chilly. Good luck!

Hi Karen. SO sorry to hear about this! I remember my
dear friend's 2.5 year old twin son hitting his two
front baby teeth as he was climbing out of a pool. They
both turned gray and had to be pulled. The dentist
wasn't worried, as they were baby teeth. Dakota is 12
years old and has beautiful permanent teeth. Hopefully
this is what your dentist will tell you too - it might
bother you aesthetically, but it's not a big deal in
the long run.

I have just a couple things to add/reiterate. 1)
There's no reason to believe that supplementing with
formula has any negative long-term effect. Your babies
are still getting all the benefit of breast milk, so
try to remember that you're doing a perfect job of
nourishing your babies and perhaps your guilt will fall
away. 2) My lactation consultant recommended a specific
regimen of herbs that does seem to be magical. Every
time I've stopped taking something my supply has
dropped and every time I start on her recommendation
again my supply goes up. I take 2 fenugreek pills and
one More Milk Plus three times a day (for a total of 6
fenugreek and 3 MMP daily). I use the Now brand of
Fenugreek and have found it more effective than other
brands. Congratulations, good luck, and enjoy!Julia

graco snugride 22 (its the smallest car seat, regards
to weight, didn't want anything too bulky or large for
those times where only 1 parent is around for both
babies. The con is they are growing out of it at 8
months and we are now looking for convertible seats as
they are approaching 21 lbs
