1. Infant Daycare vs nanny?

Hi there - wondering if anyone puts their kids in
daycare (vs a nanny). I checked the archives but only
found nanny referrals. Is it just cost prohibitive with
twins? Or just nothing available in the city?Any
recommendations?Would love something on the north side
of the city (Pac Heights, Marina, Russ Hill, n Beach).
Or if someone has a great nanny that's moving on in
September... Twins will be 4 months and I'm headed back
to work. Thx,Julie Legrand

Personally, one of the reason we chose a nanny vs.
daycare is that it was just too hard for me to get two
babies ready and out the door in the morning and to
pick them up at night. I didn't want to deal with
that. I wanted to ease of someone coming to my house.
If you go to one of the big daycare's downtown that run
$2k a month per kid a nanny is about that same price
when you have to do it times 2.If you are going the
daycare route, I have heard that Diana's day care in N.
Beach has 4 openings - you might want to google them
and give them a call.

3. Great Newborn Photographer

I did tons of research when I was pregnant trying to
find the right newborn photographer that wasn't too
expensive and had a great experience so wanted to pass
along to the group.I used Kari from Kari O'Dell
Photography. http://www.kariodellphotography.com/ She's
based in Marin, but came to our home in the city no
problem. So was so flexible with our schedule as we
kept moving the date as we wanted to get a little more
settled. We finally had the photos done on a Sunday
when they were 9 days old. I liked Kari's approach, I
didn't want to do a lot of themed photos or the babies
in baskets, buckets and the like, as you find with a
lot of other newborn photographers but instead wanted
really classic shots of the babies alone, together,
with mom/dad and with us as a family. She did a
wonderful job of capturing all of us as well as some
great proportion shots of their hands, etc.She was a
pleasure to work with and clearly had a ton of
experience with babies. In fact, she almost seemed more
comfortable with them than we did ;) She was patient,
gave us tips to calm them down, or calmed them herself
and didn't mind all the inevitable pee and poop. She
ended up staying with us almost 3 hours to get
everything she and we wanted. She brought the basic
props/backgrounds/wraps. She also worked with us as I
showed her a few photos I had found online that I
wanted to replicate.Best of all, her fee included a
disc with about 35 of the best photos (that we could
choose), high resolution, so we could print and share
them ourselves. A lot of the other photographers I
looked at either charged by the image (which was a
crazy price), you had to get them printed through them,
or if you wanted the group of photos, it was an insane
amount.Newborn photos definitely aren't cheap, but I
felt like we got exactly what we were looking for in
working with Kari and she was well worth the price.
There were no surprises, in fact, I think we even got a
few more images than stated on her website. We had
access to the images about 5 days after the shoot and
she sent us one digital image right after that so we
could get our announcements made. Then after she
received full payment a few days later, she shared the
high res images with us through Dropbox (our request).
Her fee also included those 35 chosen images in high
quality 5x7 prints.Only thing I would change is if she
would accept paypal as we had to wait until our check
arrived for her to share the images, instead of it all
being instant.I'd be happy to share our photos with
anyone interested in seeing her work, but I think a few
of our boys are included on her blog.

I just placed an order for elastic waist jeans & khakis
at cwdkids.com. The brand is wes & willy. I haven't
bought them before, so can't say what they're like, but
they have a lot of non-button options in boys sizes up
to 16.
