1. Vaginal delivery anyone?

I was lucky to deliver my twins vaginally. The labor
and delivery was very quick, it took less than 8 hours
from the water break to the moment when both of them
were out. I realize I was very lucky. Our pediatrist
said she have heard that there were twins delivered
vaginally though she had never seen any until she met
our babies. So I'm curious, how many mothers of SFPOM
did vaginal delivery?

We did vaginal delivery - also very lucky babes were
turned right way and everything worked out that we
could even try it.

Hello, Unexpectedly, I am having a very challenging
time finding an SF-based Infant CPR class for my
husband and me to take. CPMC no longer offers them.
Does anyone have a recommendation?Thank you!Leah

I took one through Red Cross - it wasn't ONLY infant,
but definitely covered the infant/child specific stuff.
It was somewhere downtown - near 2nd & Market, I think
- well done, well-structured, reasonably-priced, as I
recall.Looking just now at their website
(http://www.redcross.org/take-a-class) it seems like
some of the terminology has changed, but they appear to
cover that sort of thing under "childcare" or "family
first aid" or something.... and maybe they don't have
an SF location, but there are others nearby...Good
luck! Please post if you find some alternatives - I'm
sure others in the group would like to know as well!

Our girls are very energetic 26 months and big hits at
the moment include (you no doubt have a lot of these
already I'm sure): notebooks/crayons/writing utensils,
puzzles/books, anything related to "house"/what they
see me do - cooking, cleaning, BAGS - they love
stuffing them with randomness and carrying them around,
keys, old phones, baby dolls, trains/cars. Also
totally random but they love playing cards and seem to
sort/carry them around/put them in containers all day.
Also try dancing to music and "exercising"/stretching
with them - provides hours of entertainment at our
house daily.

Sorry - should have included that info. For anyone
else having trouble finding us on FB - just put in
"SFPOM" in the "search for friends/groups" field, and
that should get you right to us. Thanks!

I I'd t have a doula for my twins (decided against it
because I had pre e and yhough my chances for vaginally
birth were slim...and I Indeed ended up with a c sec at
39 weeks after 7 days of inducing), but did hire a
doula for my singleton when the twins were 21 months.
Felicia Roche is her name and she was great. I met with
4 others before I met with Felicia and pretty much knew
I liked her best. If you search for her on ggmg (if
you're a member), you will find a lot of positive
remarks for her (and a couple if negative ones...I
asked her about those and she had responses that
satisfied me). Anyway, I ended up with a vaginal
delivery fort singleton at 41 weeks, with her help. She
is also pretty supportive if/when you decide you want
an epidural (which i decided to get after a couple of
hours of pain). I also delivered at Ucsf and dr
Robertson there knows Felicia by name. I felt like
Felicia was very helpful for me, she offered to
encapsulate my placenta for free (nice gesture). Good
luck!!

I could never manage BOTH fully in public... but we
DID get a second pillow that lived in the car for a
while, just to have less to pack every time, and to
take to friends/relatives houses or whatever. (And
then I could wash the cover of that one more often...
though I'd usually throw a towel over it, anyway.) I
used a gigantic "EZ2Nurse" brand double pillow, and it
was great - comes with the cut-out, to use behind your
lower back, which is important.Using that extra nursing
pillow, I occasionally managed, in the back seat of the
minivan, generally with help (having babies handed to
me once I was "set up" with pillows everywhere needed,
and rolled-up receiving blankets (secured w/ rubber
bands) to use as wedges behind each baby. And
fortunately, with the tinted windows, it was relatively
private. It's tricky. I had no prob nursing one in
public as needed (under a scarf) but attempting two
just seemed like getting stared at would be avoidable,
and I just didn't have the patience/sleep/presence of
mind to handle that.Having some sort of lumbar support
is really important for your back (regardless of where
you're nursing) and watch how you hold them for ANY
thumb/wrist pain, and adjust immediately if you're
experiencing that. There's a condition called Mother's
Thumb (deQuervain's Tedonitis) that I wish I had
learned about much earlier. It IS preventable with the
correct hold.Good luck to you! It's ALL doable, and
really worth it, and you're doing the right thing by
getting info from other folks, so you're not going into
it blind.
