1. "Adventures" with 7 month old twins
--------------------------------------------------------
lindseylou2 - 7/26/2013 10:58 pm
And by "adventures" I mean getting our butts out the
door. Wondering what you mommies do during the day with
your babies. I've yet to go on more than basic errands
and outings with our twins and frankly feel intimidated
by the whole prospect. The babies were never mellow
enough for me to feel comfortable taking them out to
lunch with friends while they slept peacefully. They've
always been very...vocal. Now planning a time to go out
between feedings and napping is challenge #1 (we have a
flexible schedule mostly dependent on the previous nap
and next feeding). Challenge #2 is the logistics of
being out and about with 2 babies, especially in a city
that isn't the most child friendly (small spaces, a bit
of intolerance). I try to get us out of the house
everyday but usually it's going for a walk, going for a
drive, meeting a friend for a bit, or running a quick
errand...something simple like that. I've been to the
twin group at Day One and enjoyed that but am looking
for more interactive activities for the babies while I
can meet some great moms. We also do a swim class once
per week.I really want to start taking them out more
but am wondering what you all find enjoyable and
beneficial. Any classes, groups, or activities you
enjoy? Anything that has been relatively easy with
twins? Thanks so much!

2. Travel, time change and babies' schedule
--------------------------------------------------------
robynroberts1128 - 7/26/2013 6:48 pm
We are flying east for 6 days so there will be a 3 hour
time difference. Is it best to get them on local time
or keep them on CA time? I'm not sure what to do.
Thanks for the advice!

How old are the kiddos? We've never had much luck
keeping CA time when we travel. At three months old,
we tried to keep them on CA time and failed *miserably*
the first night. Gave up the second night and life was
good. This last time (15 months) we didn't try at all
and they were adjusted to local time almost immediately
on both ends (awake/to bed right on schedule). Even a
trip to Brazil ended up better off on local time. I'd
say much depends on your flight times (we fly mostly @
night) and the quality of blackout curtains in the room
you are traveling to (ours were terrible). Good luck!

4. Fabulous French-speaking nanny available after Labor Day.
--------------------------------------------------------
emily16 - 7/26/2013 9:08 am
Our fabulous nanny, Rachida Orr, will be looking for a
new family starting in September. She has been with our
family for the past 3 years and cared for our boy/girl
twins since they were 9 months old. Our kids are
starting full-time school in the fall, and Rachida will
be available for a new family in September. We only
have the most positive things to say about her and have
been so lucky to have her be a part of our family these
last years. We are sad to be moving on, but know we
will continue our relationship as our families have
become such good friends. Rachida is a native French
speaker who is truly gifted with children and a joy to
have in the house. Her childcare career includes being
an au pair and pre-school teacher assistant in addition
to being a nanny, and her experience across age levels
really allows her to adapt and grow along with the
children. She is as gentle at soothing babies as she is
creative in designing art projects for pre-schoolers.
For us, this continuity of care was so important.
Rachida is very respectful and direct, helping to keep
clear and open lines of communication which are
critical. For us, it was really nice that she is also a
parent raising her family in the neighborhood and could
share our concerns and experiences. She is incredibly
reliable and also flexible with her hours. She always
keeps things tidy around the house. We are frequently
approached by parents who have watched her at the
playground and tell us how wonderful she is—which, of
course, we know well. She is proactive at the
playground and keeps an eye on everyone. And always,
Rachida read to them, sings, makes art projects, takes
them to museums and parks, and teaches them. Our kids
absolutely love her and we do too!My name is: Emily

Dr. Fujimoto is fantastic and his nurse assistant Anna
is a huge help. But they all work as a team so you end
up seeing all the doctors for different procedures.
They were all fantastic!

Our kids slept much better once we let them sleep MORE
during the day, not less. Seemed strange at the time
but worked like magic._________________________Tom

My good friend has 2 children and a husband with egg
allergies. For them, it is the egg whites that are a
problem, so whenever we cook for them we use yolks
only. When baking, we usually use double yolks or add
more milk or oil. That said, I know that they don't have
to completely cut out things that may egg in it, like
bread or pasta.

Thank you so much for the encouraging words! Looks like
the best bet is CIO. We're starting tonight and I'm
dreading the next few days but know it will be worth it
in the long run. Luckily neither baby uses a pacifier
and we weened them off the swaddle 3 months ago
(tough!). I appreciate all the input and advice!
