2. Need advice.. AuPair or Nanny???
--------------------------------------------------------
pattymitchell1 - 8/19/2013 3:06 pm
I will be going back to work when the girls are 3
months old and I am trying to decide between an AuPair
or a nanny. In addition, we have a 4 year old girl who
is in pre-school M-F most of the day.I think its safe
to assume a nanny is more hands on and has more
experience, but I am trying to determine if anyone has
used an AuPair in the first year and if it was
successful. It feels like most AuPair's are more like
mother's helpers and work with older children and not
infants, which concerns me.The cost of a full time
nanny and full time preschool, seems crazy!! But, the
thought of asking someone with little infant experience
to take care of the twins, seems equally crazy.Does
anyone have a good AuPair story to share? What do other
full time mom's do around childcare?I would love any
thoughts/comments/opinions around this topic.Thanks!!

We loved Soccer Kids: http://www.soccerkids.com/Our son
learned and played soccer (practice, scrimmages) from 3
y/o thru 5ish.Terrific learning thru play, games, etc.
NO sitting around. True "here's how the game works, how
to manage the ball, play with others" soccer intro.
Kids move from Soccer Kids into the elementary school
teams (via SF Rec & Park, Viking, etc.).Great basics
and real play.http://www.soccerkids.com/Practices all
over the city, Marin, etc.Best,~ jld

We never did Soccer Tots because by the time we were
ready to put our twins into soccer, we figured we had
outgrown it and had heard what you are describing. We
started up with Soccer Insight in the spring when our
twins were 5 years old, so maybe a little older than
your twins. But they do have younger children in the
program. It's offered on Sundays in the Presidio from
9:30-10:30 AM, and our twins have loved it. They
definitely play soccer (not other games) but it's a
combination of fun drills and basic scrimmaging -- not
full games. They cater to several different ages and
play levels. Our son is in a different play level than
our daugther, so it works out well for them both since
they play with children close to their own ability.
Check it out at www.soccerinsight.com. The program is
KinderKickers. You can email Deejae, the coach, at
soccerinsight@gmail.com with questions. Let him know I
sent you.Hope that helps,Virginia Wattsmom to Lexi and

Memo (to Sharon's note, above): Our kids are in bunk
beds (shared room space saver). TOTAL drag to change
the top sheets. Just sayin'.Our kids will eventually
have own rooms, and the bunk beds separate for
individual twin beds, so not a forever situation.Best,~

Thanks ! Our two just got loft beds. I could see that
about changing sheets. Kids are loving their lofts.
Glad we got slightly shorter ones, about 5 feet from
bottom of bed to floor. They have lots of headroom atop
bed at least.3 feet. Ikea lofts are a foot taller, too
tall for our needs. I got Walker Edison lofts. Very
nice, sturdy, great height. Used on craigslist! Thanks
all for all your input. Sent from Yahoo! Mail on
