email address is: amanda.sawyer@gmail.comMy caregiver's
name is: Adriana Rocha-McGrathMy caregiver's contact
information is: 415-532-6890She/he is looking for: Full
Time Nanny PositionI employed this caregiver from:
April 2009-currentI highly recommend her/him because:
Adriana is a fabulous nanny. She has worked alongside
me for over four years, helping me raise my three
children. She's like a member of our family. But, it's
time for my kids to go to school full time, and so she
is looking for a position with a new family. She is
Brazilian but speaks and reads excellent English. She
is kind, and fun, and she really understands children.
She loves to do art projects with them and take them on
walks and to the park. She has not only created an
excellent relationship with my husband and I, but she
has also created relationships with each of our
children. She is dependable - in four years she's only
missed 2 days of work because she was sick. She drives,
which offers us a lot of flexibility, and she is
willing to work extra hours on nights or weekends when
we need a date night. She has excellent experience with
single children as well as multiple kids (we have 3
children). Whoever hires Adriana will be so lucky to
have her!Optional:Your child's age: 5 and twin 3 year
oldsDoes the caregiver drive (yes/no): YesAny
certifications (eg. CPR): yes

2. Brewers diet for mono-do

megan_mamma - 9/14/2013 10:50 am
I was referred to the brewers diet from an online
group...It's an insane diet with tons of dairy and
protein and lots of calories. It's very hard to eat the
full recommended servings.I have a while before my next
doc appt. but want to keep on track with good
nutrician. What types of nutrician guides did you
follow?

we had a 5-seater SUV for the first few months with a 3
year old and twins. it was do-able (oldest child in a
Radian, twins in Orbit infant seats w/bases), and no
matter what kind of vehicle you have, it's just a lot
of work to do a three carseat routine every time you
get in and out of the car. i'd say a big need for a
minivan depends on how much extra cargo and/or
passenger space you need, e.g. do you need space for
stroller(s) plus groceries on a regular basis. do you
regularly need to drive around more than your soon to
be family of five?we ended up getting a Sienna when the
twins were about 6-months old and we now pack it close
to full when we all need to go somewhere for the
day.would love to hear what others have to say as well
because i'm hoping to slightly downsize to a 7-seater
SUV in the near future if it makes sense. sometimes i
drive the minivan when i'm alone and it just feels so
wrong :) oh well...

5. Halloween Closet Question
--------------------------------------------------------
MadellFamily - 9/14/2013 9:57 am
Hi all, is the Halloween closet still available? We are
looking for an angel and a devil costume for 11-month
old twins. Please let me know if you have one or both
(willing to buy them from you as well). Also - are
there any Halloween parties hosted by the group? We're
new so would love to join if so! Thanks so much.

There is a Halloween closet; the member who manages it
usually has a couple of "open houses" where you can
come and look through the selection in early to mid
October (I think?) I don't think there's a strict
inventory where she can tell you exactly what they
have, so I think the best way to see if they have what
you need is just to go to the first open house and take
a look. Last year there was a family outing that took
place the weekend before Halloween. I'm not sure if
they're doing that again this year; there was some talk
of hosting a Thanksgiving ish event (maybe the weekend
before?) but I'm not sure if that's been settled. There
are usually 2-4 family get togethers/ events per year.
They are super fun, with food, activities and a nearby
playground for everyone to enjoy. Welcome to the group!
(area?!) Hope to meet you at an event sometime soon!
(Also check out the Moms Night Out, Dads Night out and
Parents Night Out. One of those takes place on the
third Thurs of each month, and they are a great way to
meet some other parents in the club!)

I left work with the official HR/Dr. sanctioned
pregnancy disability at 24 weeks & let me tell you at
28 weeks now I am so glad I did!...I had been planning
on working until 30 weeks which seemed SO early to me
(especially considering I worked until the day before
delivery with #1 - though not by choice - she came a
month early!) but now I feel so lucky to have some (not
all of my pay) and time to rest & get ready for #2 &
#3. I don't think I could have kept or working even if
I wanted too!

I works until 32 weeks. And I worked from home during
the last week (31). I had planned to try to make it to
34 weeks, but I realized around 30 weeks how
uncomfortable I really was and moved it up.

I worked until 32 weeks. At 31 weeks I scaled back to
three days/week, and was planning to do that up until
probably 36 or 38 weeks. I had a super easy pregnancy,
but my blood pressure was going up, and my doc really
wanted me to slow down. I thought the 3 days/week
schedule was a good compromise... but I only did it for
1 week, after which I was hospitalized with
pre-eclampsia. Not sure if cutting back on work
earlier, or staying home altogether (my doc would have
written me the note) would have made a difference, but
once I was hospitalized (and then the kids came at 33
weeks) I really wished I had had a little more downtime
before they arrived.

I delivered at Kaiser on Geary, Rosie. They were very
pro vaginal birth, if the circumstances worked. In my
case, both babies were breach or vertex throughout the
whole pregnancy, and I ended up delivering at 33 weeks
with pre-eclampsia and one IUGR baby, so it was a C
section. I wasn't surprised or disappointed (in the C
section; I was disappointed at the 33 weeks - I fully
expected to make it to 38-40).I think it's pretty
common to have a vaginal delivery if either both babies
are vertex or only baby B is breach. I don't think most
doctors will consider vaginal if baby A is breach,
because there's too much risk for B to go into distress
while stuck inside behind A. It really does depend on
your doctor and whoever is on call when you go into
labor. But you should have a good idea of what is
possible for you before you go in based on your
circumstances up to that point, and I think most
medical staff will work with you to make sure you have
the experience you want as long as it's medically
realistic. Good luck!

I'm in same situation and will be following as well.
Two full time working parents (both work out of the
home) with toddler in daycare and newborn twins. Nanny
with daycare would cost us a small fortune. Trying to
decide as well au pair with some nanny hours versus
daycare with nanny/mothers helper etc. let us know how
au pair works out

I have had au pairs since our twins were 9 months old
(they are 3 now). We love the program. I think a lot
of it comes down to how predictable and demanding your
work schedule is. if you have very fixed hours, then a
nanny should be fine. but if your work us unpredictable
(or if it involves some travel), then an au pair is a
better choice. it is SO WONDERFUL to have someone
living in your house who can work odd hours like split
shifts (7-9am, 4-8pm) or who can come on duty at a
moment's notice if necessary. Au pairs also travel
with you at no extra charge - which is nice if you take
frequent trips to visit the in laws, etc. The
flexibility is where the au pair program really sold
us.Of course, you have to be selective, and there is a
LOT more training and handholding involved in having an
au pair. they are not "professionals" - they are
college students who want to visit a foreign country
and finance it by working in childcare. So be prepared
for that. ON balance, we have had good experiences
with our au pairs, but we have had to send one back
after 6 months because she just couldn't get our
routine down and it was more work coaching her than
just doing it myself.Good luck!
