2. Baby Jogger City Select Users: What Sun and Rain Shades Do
you Use?

lmcdowell - 9/20/2013 7:34 pm
We'll be transitioning our twins to the regular seats
in the city select in the next month. For those who
have this stroller (and I know many do!), do you find
that the regular sun shade that comes with the seats is
good enough or did you purchase an additional one for
more coverage from wind, etc? How about the rain cover,
did you just get the baby jogger one? how is it?
Thanks!

Wondering how many of you are using the Baby Wise book
as a schedule to put your twins on. I've been trying,
but seems I can't get them to a 3 hour feed schedule.
More like 2 to 2.5 hours--sometimes 3 during the
night. My twins are 7 weeks old and were born at 36
weeks.Thanks for any input:):)Shannon

5. breastfeeding question
--------------------------------------------------------
shannoel - 9/20/2013 1:53 pm
My twin boys are 7 weeks old. They were born at 36
weeks. They are both gaining weight great. My milk
supply has been great. They are currently wanting to
feed at least every 2 hours during the day. Sometimes
I supplement the larger twin with 2 ounces of breast
milk out of the bottle after breast feeding, when he
doesn't seem satiated (he is about 11 pounds and the
other about 9)--I find if I pump in between, that I
don't have enough milk to feed them when the next
feeding time comes around-or it just feeds that way--my
breasts don't feel hard. Should I not pump while they
are feeding every two hours? Thanks for any
help:):)ShannonElijah and Logan

It's so hard when you're feeding them round the clock
to find time to pump so you can have some bottles on
hand! I found that pumping immediately after a
feeding, rather than in between feedings, worked best
for me. At 7 weeks, I was doing it after morning and
earlier daytime feedings, but not later in the day when
my supply was lower or in the middle of the night (for
the first 3-4 weeks I pumped after every feeding). At
that age, we were supplementing the last feeding of the
night (around 10 pm) with a few ounces of pumped milk,
and it definitely helped them get a good stretch of
sleep in at night -- but it was hard work to get the
milk for those bottles. If you start pumping right after
feedings, or even in between feedings, if you are
consistent, your body will catch on after a few days
and you should have enough milk.Erinp.s. Congrats on
your babies and successfully breastfeeding them!

Topic: Bottle feeding 9 month old twins at same time
Just wondering how you all bottle feed your twins at the
same time when you're alone...

We used the Bobby pillows. I would get the pillows
really close to either side of me and sit in between
and hold the bottles up. Eventually, the learned to
hold their own bottles and would just lie on the
pillow. It worked really well.

We used 2 boppis, too - they're great for propping up
the little ones! Sometimes added throw pillows
underneath when necessary. I'd generally sit in the
middle, but we experimented with them facing
towards/away from me (or whoever was feeding them). My
wrists got kind of messed up from nursing, so certain
positions of bottle-holding worked better than others.
(And moms! If you have pain in your thumbs/wrists --
change your positions/holds IMMEDIATELY!!)If one is
sometimes holding the bottle, I'll bet the other will
also be, before too long. Good luck to all of you! :

I remember swaddling only their lower halves for a
while... and that there'd be occasional times when we
were weeks out of swaddling where one might be fussy
all of a sudden without explanation, and then we might
go back (again - arms free) & they'd seem to find it
comforting... a little regression, I guess -- but
it worked, and soothed them, and usually didn't last
long. So try different things, and see what works!

I echo "do what your babies like." Mine made it clear
at around 3 months that they were done being swaddled
(they would wake up within an hour of going down for
the night while grunting and struggling vigorously to
get out of the darned swaddle). But, the twins of a
friend of mine slept soundly and contentedly while
swaddled until there were ~ 9 months old. If yours are
sleeping well, then I'd wait for a sign, as you say.
