1. introducing formula at night to have babies sleep longer

I'm getting a little desperate to have my twins sleep
longer at night--they are 2.5 months old--born at 36
weeks.I'm breast feeding almost exclusively--I'm trying
to give a bottle of breast milk a day to get them used
to the bottle--they definitely don't love it. Breast
feeding throughout the night--they spit up a lot more
when they drink out of the bottle. We sometimes get a
4-5 hour stretch in the evening--putting them down
around 7-but after that the time increments get smaller
and smaller---the 3am to 6am is the worst.I'm willing
to introduce formula before I put them down to get some
more sleep! Thoughts/advice??Thank you

If you're open to it, try it! We always gave breast
milk throughout the day and formula at night. It
definitely helped them sleep longer and all of us as
well. :) I still pumped in middle of the night for
awhile, but that was because I wanted to. Let me know
if you ever want to chat about the early days. I miss
that quality time with the babies (they're 13 months
now).

a couple of thoughts: anti-colic bottles don't drip,
require sucking, like mama's breast...that might help
to reduce spit up. we used these:

are you doing a dream feed starting around 10/11pm
while the kids are asleep? i loved the one on one
time. i remember it fondly. it was so peaceful at
night in the dark, gazing at my babies... i would
sneak into the girls' room (@~10:30pm), give the first
girl a bottle in my arms in the chair while she was
half asleep, then gently lay her back down in the crib;
repeat with the next one. then i'd sneak out of their
room, and back into bed until 5am. in addition, i'd
often sleep from 8pm-10/11pm. that worked wonders to
help me to feel rested the next day. i'd set an alarm
to wake up for the dream feeds.having a mini-fridge
upstairs with all the gear and a couple of bottle
warmers on the dresser in your room helps to get
everything ready in the semi-dark, then just sneak into
their room... we used

(the red can), along with a little spoonful of

in each bottle to help the kids digest the dairy. if
you have any questions, happy to help more. best, jen

4. How many hours does your nanny work?

I'm taking a poll - how many hours does your nanny work
a week? We have 13 month old twins and they are very
active now, they need a lot more energy and attention.
I want to make sure our nanny isn't working more than
she should, she wants the hours but she seems tired and
has complained about her back to me. We talked about
reducing her hours and she does not want to.Thank you.

Symphony is big, uses up AA batteries very quickly, and
doesn't have much umph when on battery power. Now if
it's just for work, Symphony plugged into outlet is
just fine. But if you want to use at home or in car and
stuff, you may want to pony up about $300 for the
Madela Freestyle (unfortunately it's not covered by
most insurance plans).
http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/products/463The
thing is about the size of a super fat iPhone, has 3
hours battery life, and you can hook it to your pants
or carry it around. I do half my housekeeping with it
strapped on (well, stuff you don't have to bend down to
do), or even can sort of play with the babies while
pumping. While insurance does provide free pumps these
days, they really don't come close to the Freestyle. I
justified the investment by committing to pump much
longer than if I battled being strapped in a chair with
the Symphony for so long. Gives me soooo much more time
in the day to move around plus saves on formula :)
