Have a favorite Preschool or Daycare? We are in the
sunset, but are willing to travel. Our girls are now 26
months and I'm looking to transition them from nanny
care in the coming year.

We loved Children's Campus at SF State University,
across the street from Lowell. You don't have to work
on campus. They let you in if there is space. I've
heard Little Star is good too. They have two locations
in the sunset.Good luck! On Jan 21, 2014, at 6:25 PM,

3. Night Nanny recommendation

My name is: Nina NattivMy phone number is:
310-995-9987
My email address is:
nmolayem@gmail.com
My caregiver's name is: Marie
Burke
My caregiver's contact information is:

marieburkesf@yahoo.com, 415-756-4700She/he is
looking for: night nanny position She is available: I
employed this caregiver: From October 2013 through
December 2013 (3 months) Your children's ages: Preemie
newborns to three monthsMy husband and I highly
recommend Marie as a night nanny. We initially thought
we would hire a her for a few nights a week for three
weeks. But life with Marie was so much better than life
without her that agreed to stay on with us for three
months. This was some of the best money I have ever
spent. She made us better parents and infinitely
happier.Marie has years of experience with both single
children and twins and is continually taking
infant/baby caregiving classes. She is a mother
herself, which I think is very important. She has a
very calming presence. One of our girls would cry every
evening for hours and then, as soon as Marie would hold
her, she would calm down and go right to sleep. It was
miraculous! We actually felt comfortable with her from
the first night she worked. We literally shut the door
to our room and slept peacefully knowing she was taking
care of our babies. We were very nervous when her
employment came to an end because she really made our
lives so much easier. But, she not only taught the
babies to fall asleep easily, she also taught us the
skills to take care of the babies ourselves. Because of
her, our girls have no problem falling asleep at night
and I am confident in handling two babies by myself in
the middle of the night. But Marie doesn't ever tell
you what to do. She asks you how you want things done
and only gives advice when asked. Because the girls
would sleep so long on the nights that she was with us,
she had a lot of down time. Instead of sitting around
and resting, she would do our dishes, clean/prepare
bottles, do the kid's laundry, and tidy up the nursery
and living room. One thing that was really important to
me and my husband was to hire someone that we would
want to be friends with. This is a person who is
spending time in your home while you are sleeping, who
is waking you up from your bed in the middle of the
night (if that's what you choose), and who sees you in
your Pjs and messy hair. It really made my late-night
pump sessions much less painful to have a friend to
chat with.I highly recommend Marie. Please feel free to
contact me with any questions or requests for
additional information.

5. naps have gotten shorter--5 1/2 month old boys
--------------------------------------------------------
shannoel - 1/21/2014 1:23 pm
Hello--Any advice on naps?? I have 5 1/2 month old
boys that up until a few weeks ago were taking at least
one long nap a day (close to two hours) with a couple
of short naps as well. Now they seem to be cat
nappers---around a hour each nap. I did have a nanny
that was feeding them to sleep---for about 3 weeks in
December. That is no longer happening.Any advice?
Could it be teething? Also, when should I start only
putting them down for 2 naps? Thank you parents!!

I'm guessing everyone's experience is slightly
different, but my son (he's 21 months now and I have
twins on the way) started transitioning to a once a day
nap around 5-6 months old as well. I was not happy to
lose the second nap, but it did mean that the one nap
was pretty long (2-3 hours). At 21 months he still naps
once a day, some days for a couple hours, and some days
he just spends some (hopefully!) quiet time reading in
his crib. Since he started one nap a day I have tried
to get him down for his nap about six hours after he
wakes up in the morning, and I'm sure to wake him from
the nap at least 3-4 hours before he has to go to bed
or he won't be tired. I think my son is a bit unusual
in that he seems to need less nap time than a lot of
kids, but that has been my experience. Good luck! It
can be hard to find the right balance. Not all days
look the same. Try to see what makes them feel good on
most days and then try to enforce those times for a
week or so. If they respond well that may be your new
schedule for now.

Believe it or not, I very highly recommend Club Med
Cancun. The resort iswonderful, there¹s a lot to do,
the location is at the end of a peninsula,so it has
essentially its own beach with low waves (no one walks
by you, because your at the end). There¹s a pool,
water-skiing, snorkeling, sailing,kayaking, a spa, a
gym with fun free classes if you have some time
toyourself. The food is fantastic huge buffets every
meal, and it all tastesgreat and espresso drinks are
available too! And the best of all....There¹s a
wonderful ³mini² kids club with a play structure, maybe
a minipool, and babysitters if you want that. I was
there in Oct. with my 12 yearolds (they loved the ³teen
club²), and some friends with their little ones.We all
had a great time. You cannot beat the price. You can do
a lot, orrelax on the beach. The rooms have balconies,
so you can relax there whileyour kids nap. Check it
out!

We sent our twins to Peekadoodle prep when they were
around two years old (or maybe younger) and thought it
was great. They went two mornings a week and it helped
with their independence. They learned their alphabet
and did a nice range of activities (like crafts) that
my nanny probably could not have done with them. The
teachers are all really sweet and loving. My kids are
still at the Peekadoodle Academy preschool nearly two
years later and I like it more every year.
