1. Tummy tuck, repairing hernia and all that stuff

anonymous - 1/27/2014 10:18 pm
Hi,I've read the back issues of Multiplicity and the
forums on this board about tummy tucks, repairing the
umbilical hernia and diastatis... the last two I have.
My twins are now 2 years old and four months. So I've
weighted it out and time and exercise has not resulted
in my body reabsorbing the skin. Since I'm a Mom who
works full time, I sadly haven't had the experience of
running after my little ones to loose every lb of baby
weight. My therapist who also deals with women with
body issues, told me most are not happy with the tummy
tuck and fixing this stuff. I don't expect to look 21
again, or wear a bikini. Sounds like my belly button
might even be in a different place. Could anyone share
their experience please please please and how was the
recovery (see below)? Can you recommend any
doctors?thanks for any openness people are willing to
share. One last thing: how was the recovery? Since it
would be bigger then my c-section scar, I imagine it
would be brutal. My c-section was easier to recovery
from than I can imagine running after my now 2+ year
olds. How as was the pain? I hate Morphin based drugs
and don't know if it possible to have this surgery with
little or no Vicodin afterwards?

2. Mother's Helpers

jarkowitz - 1/27/2014 1:05 pm
I saw a recent post about mother's helpers and would
love to get more information about them. I'd like to
know the best way to find reliable helpers, what they
usually charge, and if you have any recommendations for
mother's helpers (especially in the Russian Hill and in
Outer Richmond areas). Many thanks!

a couple of thoughts: don't get constipated post
c-section. talk with your doctor about buying miralax
in advance (or something else) to take after the births
for a few weeks (and maybe a few days before the births
to get everything moving). also, i agree with lucia,
push the births back as close to 40 weeks as you can.
i kept asking 'am i okay? is baby a okay? is baby b
okay?' if the answers to all three questions were yes,
then why not let the babies cook a little longer?
obviously, if the answer to any of those three
questions is no...different conversation...a while ago
i wrote another mom of twins with some birth plan items
i considered for a c-section. hope you find these
helpful. my best, jen Here are some things I
considered for a c-section birth plan:For mom:-
request dual layer suturing (among other things, in
case you want a VBAC in the future);- document
who will stay with you in the OR* and who will go with
the babies to the nursery/ICU (*I believe the only
hospital that routinely allows both spouse and doula in
the OR is CPMC's St. Luke's campus on Valencia);-
request special music to be played in the OR;-
request to be allowed to labor for a while in a labor
room before going to the OR;- request to be
consulted before introduction of any medical procedure
or medication administration (makes you feel like
you're involved vs. having everything happen to you);-
request one arm be released to touch babies;-
request immediate skin to skin contactFor babies:-
decline antibiotic eye drops;- decline vitamin
k injection;- decline hep b injection;-
request that only you, dad or doula feed babies;-
request delayed bath so vernix can be absorbed into
skin;- request cords not be cut until they stop
pulsingHere are two sites that look like they have some
interesting ideas:-
