1. Losing too much weight 9 months post-partum
--------------------------------------------------------

I lost a lot of weight within the first 2 weeks
post-partum, then it took several months to get the
last 15-20 lbs off. I know, that sounds great, but I'm
still breast-feeding both twins and I've continued to
eat a ton this whole time, but within the last month
(at 9 months post partum), more weight has come off.I
know this may not seem like a problem to some, but it's
now to the point where my pre-baby jeans are too big
and I'm thinner than I need to be. Did this happen to
anyone else and did you figure out if there was a
reason why?I'm eating everything the same that I have
been eating all along (and eating a lot, lots of
protein, etc). I want to be able to continue to provide
enough for my babies (luckily supply has not decreased
yet), while making sure the quality of the milk is
still good. Any tips? Recommended foods?I work out
several times a week but nothing for weight-loss. And
oddly, I haven't worked out for the last month when I
lost this extra weight, so maybe it's muscle that has
been lost (though it seems like a month would be too
fast for that to happen).thanks for any suggestions!

Sorry, I don't have any experience, but I would assume
it's the breastfeeding. That makes people really
skinny, it requires a lot of energy from your body. It
also could be the muscles as you suggest, muscles go
away pretty quickly. If I were you I would probably try
to talk to my doctor or better to nutrition consultant.
I don't know any, but I know that at CCSF there as
excellent nutritionist Linda Bacon and that would
probably the first person I would try to ask for
advice.

Hi Vicki, I can see that spousal account is checked on
your membership dashboard - so either your husband
needs to renew his membership by clicking through some
page (check with Caroline who can be reached at
membership@sfpom.org) or he needs to check his account
settings by going to "my bigtent" on the top left of
the page and choosing "settings" from the drop-down
menu. Some members choose to receive no emails and read
the page instead.Hope it helps a bit, Jenia

I'm no expert, but happy to share some thoughts. Most
mothers helpers are either young, like high school or
college age, or are older but with an emphasis on
cleaning, rather than child care. (i.e., they CAN help
you with your baby, but their focus is more on doing
the cleaning and chores that would otherwise take you
away from the kids.)The mother's helper we found was a
student at SF State. (We live on the western side of
town, so we're sort of near the campus.) I found her on
care.com, but I think another good way to find them is
to post on college job boards (USF, SF State, not sure
if CCSF has something like that, but worth checking.)
However there aren't any campuses near the two areas
you mention... but a lot of students have cars, and
many don't actually live on campus, so it's definitely
worth a try.On care.com, I've found it useful to search
through available caregivers, looking at their age,
experience and most importantly price range. (You can
do a search based on zip code and price range.) Then
you can find a few candidates and send them a message
with your needs/schedule/rate, and see who replies.
Obviously you want someone who you trust and like being
around, but my standards for a helper weren't as high
as for a nanny, since with a helper I or another family
member would always be around.Another good option is to
post on neighborhood message groups, on sites like
Facebook, Yahoo, or nextdoor.com. (Nextdoor is a social
media site where you can post messages to people who
live in your immediate neighborhood. My neighborhood,
the Inner Sunset, has several hundred members, and I've
seen postings both seeking and offering
babysitting/helper services.)I think you can pay
anywhere from $10-$20/hour, depending on the person and
their experience. We paid the college student
$13-$15/hour. $20 is definitely on the high end, since
that's what we pay a nanny, who takes care of the kids
when we're not around.Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks for the great info! My husband and I are
starting to go through all our baby stuff and selling
for the toddler phase. :) I have a city select double
stroller that I am looking to sell. Let me know if
anyone is interested. I will post in the classified
section as well on the group.
