2. Sleep advice please - sleep train just my boy or both twins
together?

So my 4 month old b/g twins have been sleeping in
separate rooms, just to help my sanity in the middle of
the night. I have been weaning them both off of the 3am
night feeding by gradually reducing the amount that I
offer them at that time. After reducing to just water a
few nights ago, my girl has slept through the night
twice in a row! She sleeps in a swing (not moving) and
swaddled. My boy, however, has still been waking up at
3am, 4am, 4:20am, etc. My husband and I are considering
doing a Ferber-style (gradually increasing time
increments) sleep training with him starting on Friday.
How important is it for things to be "exactly how they
will always be" before sleep training? For example,
should I move my girl back into the nursery, unswaddle
her and sleep train the both of them together? Or,
because she is sleeping through the night swaddled in
the swing, should I give her some time to build that
sleep habit on her own and worry about moving her to
the crib/unswaddling later? My concern is that waiting
to move her might mean that we would need to sleep
train again. But, I also don't want to disrupt the good
habits that she is creating on her own right now.
Thanks for your advice!

My night nanny had the approach of 'rip the bandaid
off'. For example, we completely unswaddled them when
we decided to; no one arm in and one arm out. Ours
always slept in the same crib together, well, until
they were rolling over, then we moved them to separate
cribs. But my night nanny said it was important to have
them together, to get used to each others' sounds, even
if initially one would wake up the other. Now that mine
are almost 10 months, there are times when I rush in to
bring one out when I hear one crying, but I recognize
the 'I'm awake and not going back to sleep cry' and
this only happens occasionally during naps, when I'd
rather have one up, than both, especially one who was
not ready to wake up yet. They generally sleep really
well, both at night and during naps and really only
wake each other up if it's close enough to their wake
up time (so not in the middle of the night, if one
happens to wake up, which is extremely rare).I think
everyone probably does it differently, but I would do
it all at once. You'll probably have some rough nights,
but hopefully it will all be done at once and you won't
have to go through it again each time you need to
change something. Good luck!
