Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. If you
had any special events and now have dressy maternity
wear or outfits for your little ones that you no longer
need, please consider donating them to the Dressy
Clothes Closet. We currently have an inventory of ONE
8-year old's dress. Please email me at
dressycloset@sfpom.org if you're interested in
donating. Thanks!

2. please recommend a labor and delivery doula

Hi. My partner and I are looking for a doula for labor
and delivery. There are lots of night doula
recommendations but very few for labor and delivery. My
twin boys are both vertex and my doc expects I will go
into labor naturally and hopefully deliver vaginally
without any complications. We are due at the end of
March. I know it's short notice but I was thinking my
chances of a c-section were too high to warrant a labor
doula-turns out I was wrong. Thanks for your input and
help.

We delivered at Kaiser SF in November and had a great
experience. Both of my babies were breech, so I had a
scheduled c-section. All my doctors, nurses and the
staff were great. They were very helpful with
breastfeeding and my recovery. Our pediatrician is Dr.
Kota and I have been very happy with her so far. Happy
to answer any more specific questions if you have them.
Good luck!Sent from my iPhone

We delivered at Kaiser 5 1/2 years ago and had a great
experience. The staff was all great. The food is
pretty utilitarian (not like CPMC where friends had a
filet mignon dinner on their last night) and they only
provided meals for the mom, so plan accordingly. You
can order in or have friends/family bring food. The
best part was it cost nothing. They even validated
parking, and we never saw a bill for anything! Our
doctors is Shannon Udovic-Constant and we lover her.
She was on a part time schedule when we started and I
would recommend having a doctor who works full time as
you end up seeing them a lot the 1st 3 years or so. We
did see a lot of different doctors through urgent care
and they were all great. Good luck!

We delivered at Kaiser SF in July. Everyone was really
great. I distinctly remember Nurse Jackie who was a
night nurse at the time. She was super. I know they
were doing some renovations while we were there but if
they still have it, ask for the bigger room. It used to
be a double but it is a single. It was great for us
because so many doctors and nurses come in to check on
you and the babies so the more space the better. Since
you're having twins they probably will give you
preference anyway but just ask about it just in case.
Also, I'm not sure if they have one but utilize the
nursery for sleeping at night if you can. We didn't
know about it but I've heard from other moms that the
nurses can take your babies at night so you can get
some rest in between feedings. They will care for your
babies and just bring them to you when it is time to
nurse. And one last thing, utilize the lactation
consultants. Make sure you feel confident about
breastfeeding before they discharge you. If I could do
it over again, I would not let them release me until I
had the breastfeeding routine down.

I delivered our twins there this past November and had
a really wonderful experience then as well as during a
prior admission to L&D. Everyone from the doctors
through every single nurse was excellent, and they even
called a Dr. in -on Thanksgiving- especially to
supervise the breach extraction of our Baby B. Please
feel free to reach out with any specific questions, but
know that you are in good hands.Congratulations!!

Just a final bit of wrap up on this.... SFPOM NEVER
sells or otherwise shares member addresses (physical or
email), even if people or companies pay to advertise
in our newsletter. The Club is here to serve its
members, not for self-promotion. We want to protect
our members' privacy and keep this space a safe,
"commercial-free" area in which to find and offer
support relating to parenting issues. However - we ARE
working on adding another tab or area to the website
(BigTent's SFPOM website) that will be specifically for
any members who have their own businesses, to promote
them, openly/transparently (& with reasonable limits.)
All other thing being equal, I, for one, would love to
give my business to a fellow POM member... but I don't
want to receive unsolicited emails. This would be an
area on the site that members would seek out only as
needed. We will be posting information and guidelines
for this process as it develops. We hope it will be of
help to our members, and that everyone will follow the
appropriate protocols for use. In the meantime,
please know there is an (underutilized) "reviews" tab
if you wish to share any positive (or negative)
experiences you've had with local businesses, vendors,
services providers, etc. be they member-run or
not! Thanks, everyone, for your feedback on/patience
with this!!

Yay! So glad to hear it! I'm sure you've been told
this already - but feeding as often as you can will
help build up your supply, as it's a supply & demand
set-up! : ) It definitely sometimes takes patience
- but your body is making just what they need at any
given time, and breast milk is far more concentrated,
nutritionally, than the same volume of forumula - so
don't stress if you feel like it's a little low.
Remember to stay hydrated, too. It's really hard at
first - but it DOES get easier!! Hang in there, you're
doing great - and CONGRATULATIONS to you (& WELCOME, to
your little ones!) Remember, too - you can set up a
free, delivered meal by contacting meals@sfpom.org
