2. Bassinet Recommendations for Twins? Anyone Using Graco Pack
n Play Twins Bassinet?
--------------------------------------------------------
michelecardinal - 5/28/2014 1:31 pm
Hi there!Does anyone have a good recommendation for
bassinets for twins? We had already registered for
this Graco Pack n Play Twins Bassinet
(http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005UV0UV8?pc_redir=1401064684&robot_redir=1)
but aren't sure if this is sturdy or large enough to be
the best bassinet solution in our bedroom for at least
a few weeks. Does anyone have this, and are you using
it in your bedroom as their bassinet! Thanks so much!
We have twins just born last Friday and are trying to
work this out befor we get them home from the hospital.
:)Michele

We used it for about 4-5 months. It wasn't in our room,
but in the living room. Our girls slept in it almost
exclusively for the first 2-3 months until we put them
in their crib. Its nice because it separates them, which
is supposed to help prevent SIDS. Its a decent size and
sturdy. My main issue is that the center of it starts
to sag. So once the girls weighed about 10 pounds, they
would kind of slide towards the middle. And, actually,
once they were even bigger, they would almost roll
towards the middle. If you aren't too concerned with
the SIDS risk of putting them next to each other (most
of my friends that have twins weren't worried about
this), then I'd say to just use a regular sized
co-sleeper. We ended up using that for naps between 3-6
months and it worked well. I really only stopped using
it because they got too big to nap in the same space (8
months old now) and because they now sit up so I can
put them in high chairs when I'm in the kitchen. I
don't think their is a right answer, just whatever you
have room for and whatever you are comfortable with.We
might be looking to sell our Graco Pack n Play (we
would only keep it as a play pen, but I think my girls
would lose their minds in that small space). So if you
wanted to return yours, we might be able to sell you
ours for cheaper. Let me know and good luck!Nina

is closing due at the end of July and she is looking
for something ideally in SF or South SF.Does anyone
know of any preschools that might be a good fit for
her?Thank you so much.Elizabeth

Has she looked into cooperatives? We were very pleased
with Playmates on 42nd Ave between Taraval and
Santiago. On Wednesday, May 28, 2014 12:14 PM,

7. PLEASE help: toddler night wakings
--------------------------------------------------------
zarate - 5/28/2014 7:01 am
Hi folks,.Beware of sleep deprivation post, logic may
be sparse...Direct question first, out situation comes
next:What did you (or do you) do when you toddlers went
through bouts of bad sleep/night clinginess/screaming
non stop/only stopping if you are holding them/but then
wanting to play or hang out....We need short term hope
that is not "it gets better" and to know strategies to
cope with their lack of sleep and OUR lack of sleep,
because we know we are not at our best and I feel I
will go insane if this do not stop.We have 22.5 month
old b/g twins. For the last 11 nights my kids slept 4
with some degree of tranquility. They go down, and
things go bad mostly after the initial 4 hours.
Otherwise it has been sheer hell. We've had nights
where either my husband and I slept 3-5 hours. We've
had nights I only got to sleep at 3:30 AM.One or the
other wakes up screaming, then it is a race after they
do not settle, to try to protect the other twins
sleep...sometimes we succeed, lately the other ends up
awake and upset. Bringing them out from bedroom and
into our bedroom makes things worse-- they are not used
to it and want to play, and then putting them back into
their bedroom elicits much more screaming. One night in
sheer desperation, after 4 hours of dealing with them,
I put them both in crib kissed them good night and
left. They then screamed and cried at top of the lungs
for 60 minutes, when one fell asleep. The other one
talked/cried lightly for another hour.It breaks my
heart to do that. I feel there is some THING, some
parental knowledge I obviously do not have, and no
other mother would resort to putting them back in the
cribs. (most likely not reality, but how it feels)The
only change came after this bout of bad nights. In the
last 4 days they have been fighting the sleep sacks, so
in the last 2 nights they have been sack-free, and also
for the nap in-between. First night and first nap were
good, second night my son took 40 minutes to relax or
he was having fun sticking his arms and legs out and
putting his lovey out of the crib, then back in.
However he then kept my husband up from 2:30 to almost
6, woke up his sister who then joined in...and were
awake and complaining at 5:45, when husband finally got
me to take over. Where was I? My husband can sleep
through a lot of shenanigans while I cannot, and then I
do not easily fall asleep; so I was holed up upstairs,
with earplugs on, trying to recoup from 9 nights of
little or no sleep, to the point I *know* I lost my
resilience. Please help.
