1. Free Toddler Beds

We're done with our toddler beds. They're well-worn,
having come from another set of twins. They've got
stickers and scratches. The drawers on the bottom
didn't work well, though someone who is handy could
probably make them work. Color is espresso. We don't
have the mattresses, but they use regular crib sized
mattresses. They're Pali convertible beds - but they
can't be used as cribs. We don't have the parts, and
they were not drop down. They're already disassembled
for easy transport. I would like to get rid of them
this week. If I don't have any takers here by Wed I'll
put on CL.

We dropped the bottles right around 1 year, but just
replaced them with sippy cups. It took a few days for
them to really get comfortable with milk in the
sippies, but then we kept that routine of first thing
in the morning and last thing in the evening for
another year or more. I didn't give the kids milk with
meals, because I felt like that might end up with them
drinking too much milk, and I wanted them to focus more
on solids. I read that past one year, kids should be
getting 16-24 oz of milk. So we did water with meals,
and then an 8 oz sippy in the morning and another one
in the evening. The transition was pretty easy because
it wasn't a big change in routine - just in hardware.
=) The hardest adjustment was brushing teeth after the
sippy cup, since the bottle had always been sort of a
soothing, last thing before bed activity, and taking
them into the bathroom to brush teeth definitely woke
them back up, if they had been at all sleepy. But we
adjusted. I think we read stories while they had the
milk, then brushed teeth, then turned off the light and
sang songs. I also liked the milk first thing in the
morning because it let me put off breakfast for a
little while - it gave me time for us all to get up,
get dressed, get situated, etc., without the kids
freaking out from hunger. Now at 3.75 they still
occasionally ask for a cup of warm milk on weekend
mornings. =)
