Hi,In my experience, try to be flexible at the daycare
for some things. When they started at the daycare they
napped once in the morning and once in the afternoon (I
did not mind what time as long as they do not nap after
3:00pm and not longer than 1h30 each nap). I like them
to be independent of each other! I hope mums of twins
got the chance to read this inspiring book: "Twins and
multiple births".My babies are now 16 months and they
have been napping once at the daycare, so when they
come home they are exhausted. I pick them up at 4:00pm,
feed them at 5:00pm and put them to sleep at 6:00pm. I
am looking after them alone when I bring them from the
daycare. It gets easier as they start to move.I write
their feeding schedule and I am not crazy if they do
not do things at the right time or together. Here is my
schedule if you are interested for when your babies
cross 9 months or later:8:45 milk9:00 fruit11:30 lunch
fruit1:30 milk2:00 fruit or desert I prepareat home
5:00 dinnerHope this helps. I am also interested to
read what other mums will write.Best of luck,

Hi Denise:I don't have experience with day care (either
with my singleton or my twins who I think are about the
same age as yours), but I do have a nanny, so I do deal
with communicating with a 3rd party care provider.
Obviously, with a day care you need to be mindful of
the fact that they have to care for all kids, but what
you are asking your provider to do is something that I
would imagine would save her time, not further tax it.
I would recommend you sit down with her and ask about
her experience with twins, and if she says she hasn't
dealt with them or only had infrequent contact with
twins, explain how important it is to keep twins on a
schedule, and that by necessity they are used to being
woken up if their twin had gotten up early to feed etc.
and that it isn't disruptive or a big deal to do that.
And I would also emphasize how important the schedule
is for you to be able to manage as a single mom AND to
be able to see the babies at night for quality time
before they go to bed. That being said, it may be that
you will need to be flexible because it is a group care
situation, but as you described it, it sounds like a
provider who is treating (with all best intentions!)
your twins as singletons, so I think you just need to
give her background on they where's and why's of twin
schedules. Also keep in mind you may have to have the
convo a few times. Very hard for some folks to get
past the instinct not to wake a sleeping baby etc. My
mom (who raised 5 kids) has a HUGE problem with this
when she cares for my girls. I was surprised how much
of a stumbling block for her. Partly, I think it is
cultural for her (she has said as much), but
nonetheless, it is hard for her to understand, and only
now, after multiple conversations re same are we
starting to reach an understanding on the girls
schedule and its importance in keeping everything
smoothly moving forward.
