Have you found your SFPOM membership helpful to you as
a parent? If so - please read:Hello, everyone~Thanks to
our WONDERFUL POM MEMBERS, we've made some progress in
filling many of our open slots, however - just a few
remain, including one or two critical ones - the
SECRETARY position is still open, and very much in need
of filling! This person schedules the Board/Advisory
Committee Meetings, attends, and generates minutes.
(We generally meet 2-4 times/year, so it shouldn't be
an overwhelming commitment.) They also participate in
Executive Board decisions, and help out with the
Consignment Sale. The TREASURER has gotten very busy and
is also open to being replaced, so please check in with
us if you might be interested in learning more about
that role (write to treasurer@sfpom.org and to
president@sfpom.org). In addition, these positions are
less time-sensitive:* Philanthropy Chair - organize a
holiday drive for a local multiples family in need; be
a liaison with agencies that we might be able to
assist. This can all be done via email and phone.*
NCaMoTC Rep ("Northern CA Mothers of Twins Clubs"
Representative) - represent our Club at a couple of
meetings a year, or coordinate other Club members to
attend each time.* Consignment Sale team/helpers - our
next sale will be in April, and we can always use help
with the planning in advance, and execution during that
event. Please contact Hae Won Ritchie to volunteer for
that amazing event: consignmentsale@sfpom.org* Meals
for New Parents preparers - have the bandwidth to make
one or two meals per year, for shell-shocked but
grateful new families? Please contact Ludmila Kukalova
to get on her list of potential cooks: meals@sfpom.org
(You can even just deliver something from a
restaurant - they key thing is to take a hot meal to a
family with new babies, and by doing so, demonstrate
that they, too, will be ok, and will survive and
thrive! )Most of these things take an average of way
less than an hour/week, but they vary. All are done on
YOUR time, w/ the exception of occasional group
meetings (tho the infrequent POM meetings tend to be
scheduled so as to include the largest number of
committee members possible.)THANK YOU all for reading,
and for considering what YOU can do. (There are
benefits to volunteering besides good karma -
discounts, in some cases, networking opps, great new
friendships and connections, work skills for your
resume, letters of reference...) Please let me know if
you'd like details on any of these. All positions are
handled by volunteer members of the Club like
yourselves, and it's a GREAT way to "give back/ pay it
forward"! This Club is ONLY as good as its
participating members, so please do your part, and BE
the change you want to see in the Club! : D Thanks,
everyone!

I am a doc and close friends with a medical director at
KP Daly city. When I was choosing a pediatrician for my
boys she recommended two (men, because she mentioned in
later years for her boys it became more important than
she realized to have a same gender doc, not as
important in the early years though if you do have
girls) 1. Brian Ng who I currently see. He has great
energy and is wonderful with the little ones. He has a
toddler and baby of his own and is very understanding
of what its like to be a parent of young children. He
is about 7-10 years out in practice which is a great
place to be since he has enough experience but also
will likely be working throughout your toddler's
life.2. Roberto Chong. He was recommended as being more
on the reserved, academic side, but very kind patient
and skilled. I went with the more bubbly personality
choice for the young kids but it really depends on your
preference. My friend said that Dr. Chong really knows
his stuff and will really take time to consider
alternatives. He is about the same age and experience
level. You can look at both of their profiles on the
website. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for all of your replies. I have a boy
and a girl - I hadn't thought of this, but eventually
it would probably make sense for them to see different
same gender pediatricians.
