My husband and I are considering getting a nanny for
approximately 35 hours per week in the end of
August/early September for our twin sons who will be
approximately 4-5 months old so I can return to work
full time. We're in the initial phases of looking into
benefits for a nanny- what benefits do you provide for
your nanny? PTO? Sick time? Health insurance? What is a
typical going rate in SF?Thanks in advance for any
input, it's greatly appreciated!

We had the same experience and ended up going with a
nanny with no twins experience and it has been fine. I
think what's most important is that she will listen to
your priorities and go with the plan. We communicated
clearly how important it was to us, and we haven't had
any issues with ours not keeping them on the same
schedule. Good luck!

Hi Bonnie,I think what's most important is that you and
your nanny are able to communicate openly and that she
is willing to comply with your requests. Our former
nanny didn't have twin experience but ran a daycare so
I knew two children would be no problem. She initially
had my twins on different schedules. Not sure why it
didn't occur to me they wouldn't be on the same one. I
spoke with her about it and she immediately put them on
the same one, and even went one step further to put
them on a set schedule and not just the loose but same
one we had. I let some things go because I didn't want
to nitpick (honestly, I don't even remember what they
were; I just remember wondering the question) but for
the major or important stuff, it was great having a
nanny who said, "Sure, no problem." Sometimes there was
more discussion but it was comfortable. And she was
always quick to put me at ease. I think you can pose
the question when interviewing nannies. Raising twins
is special and differential and comes with its own
challenges, is she willing and able to put them on the
same schedule and whatever else is important to you to
make your life easier when the nanny isn't there? Best
